Nick's POV
Excitement overwhelmed me as I hurriedly walked from my taxi. Finally. I would never have to face those girls again. Never again would I have to go back to Manchester. Never. Old Cole waved at me and offered to take my baggage. I refused.
"Is Lily here?" I asked him.
"She unfortunately had a meeting to attend to... But her granddaughter is here. You remember Eli from when you were just a toddler?"
Eli. The name rung a bell.
"Eli the Pretty girl?" I asked.
"I don't think you'd consider her pretty now." Old Cole laughed and opened the front door.
"Eli! Nick is here!"
"One second!" a petite voice called from upstairs. Then I heard light footsteps coming quickly down the stairs. Any normal human wouldn't have heard them. But I wasn't normal.... so. this was normal for me at least. I looked down at my clothes. Out of all the days to wear sweats and a Rome shirt, why did it have to be today?
Suddenly the footsteps stopped and I looked up. There she was. She was stunning. With black hair curling down her back, her jade green eyes sparkling, her full red lips puckered a bit into a slight pout. She was slightly tall, but her build was petite. She wore jeans and a tank top, showing off her pale skin. I swear she was even more beautiful than I remembered.
Eli stared at me, her eyes scanning me up and down. I stuttered a bit-, but decided to break the tension.
"Like what you are looking at?" I asked cheekily. She looked at my face startled. And blushed deep red. I chuckled. She HAD to be a bookworm.
"Nick Weasly." I laughed putting out my hand. She caught on quickly.
"Eli Granger" she replied, hiding a giggle, but her eyes betrayed her.
Old Cole cleared his throat. "Well. I'll leave you two to get to know each other. I'll be in the kitchen if you guys need anything."
I nodded and Eli came forward. She linked her arm around my arm.
"Let's go outside beneath the shade of the old cherry tree and get to know each other." she said under her breath. She smelled good, like vanilla and strawberries. We walked together under the tree. I sat down. But Eli started to climb the tree. Getting some cherries. I laughed.
"You are something else Eli."
"Do I smell flirting coming from you Nick?" she laughed.
"No. Not at all. I would never flirt with a beautiful girl like you."
She laughed even harder and jumped down. Her feet landing gracefully on the ground. Any other human's legs would've broken. But hers didn't. Was she different like me?
I shook my head. I can't be silly. She must have strong legs....
"Then I must play hard to get." she said simply swinging on a tree branch.
"So. That means. you like me?" I groaned.
"Any normal girl would love your charming ways Nick." said Eli. "but I'm not normal, therefor I won't."
Not normal?
"What do you mean not normal?"
I swear I saw her back stiffen slightly. Then she cracked a smile. "Not normal as in I don't love things normal girls do. I love books, music, Internet, stuffed animals, and video games. Normal girls love makeup, parties, boys, kissing, stuff like that. Therefor I am not normal."
