December 24th 1996
Draco and his four companions shadowed the three figures leaving the graveyards. Draco paused for a moment, and examined the headstone Hermione had been looking at. He could make out the symbol of the Deathly Hallows.
"Draco, Keep moving." Snapped one of the four. He jogged to catch up with them.
The five tried to stay hidden in the brush hugging the side of the road. Draco could make out Hermione's figure, just ahead of them, trailing behind her other two companions. Forever being the smart one of the trio, she seemed to be taking caution of her surroundings.
The three came to a house. Harry and the snake headed up the path, but Hermione stayed behind, and looked up at the little building.
Draco's pack reached the house second after them, still staying hidden amongst the bushes. A twig snapped under Draco's boot. He saw Hermione whip around , and stare right at him. He didn't know if he wanted her to discover him or not. He let the air out of his lungs when she turned around, and ran into the house. In a brief moment of selfishness, he was disappointed.
He felt a tap on his shoulder. His traveling partner signaled for him to stay there, and for the rest to follow. This made him angry, but he obeyed, and stayed put.
Then it hit him. Hermione didn't know that this was a trap. She had know clue that in mere minutes, she could be ambushed, arrested, and most likely killed. The clarity of it all hit him in the head like a rock...
That gave him an idea. He searched the ground until he found a decent sized rock. He pulled out his wand, mutter "Hauriendam aquam" and proceeded to carve in the stone, a message. When he was satisfied, he put his wand away. He inched forwards in the bush, until he was close enough to move, but not close enough to be seen.
He then stood up, raised the rock above his head, and threw it as hard as he could at the window of the house in which he could see Hermione pacing through. He took caution not to hit her.
As soon as he saw the tock strike true, he darted back into the think of the brush,
When the glass shattered, he heard her scream in shock.
she had gotten his message
Its a trap.
--------------------------------------------------------
Insinct took over Hermione the moment that she read the words on the rock. But before she could react, a thud come from upstairs, followed by a struggled cry from Harry.
She bolted up the stairs, and opened the door she heard the noises behind. She forced the door opened, and saw Harry struggling on the floor. The lady had been replaced by a giant snake, which was currently on top of her best friend.
She yelled at the beast. The think turned on her, and struck. But she was too quick, for she had managed to duck out of the way. She shot a curse at the snake, but she dodged it. The spell hit a window, causing it to shatter.
Hermione shielded her face from the flying glass. When she looked up she saw the snake advancing on Harry. She quickly hit it with a stunning curse. The creature flew into the air, and fell onto the floor, writhing and squirming around, knocking down books, and breaking shelves on the wall.
In the background, Hermione could hear Harry yelling, "He's coming, Hermione, He's coming, He's coming!"
Hermione couldn't move, she stood there, almost hypnotized by the snake. She watched it's strong body move back, and forth as it grew closer.
Then she felt arms around her. They were pulling her back behind the shelter of the bed. Pain ripped through her as she snapped out of her daze, as if her skin was being pulled from her body. Hermione saw the snake lunge towards them again. She lifted her wand, and shouted. "Confringo!"
She watched her spell ricochet around the room, smashing wardrobes, and shattering glass. She shrieked as she felt the flying glass slice at her cheeks. She felt Harry go limp beside her. She grabbed his limp hand and dissaparated.
----------------------------------------------
When Draco heard the first screams, he sprang out from his hiding spot in the bushes. He jogged around the side of the house, and saw on of his men, with his wand pointing towards the window. He looked up and saw Hermione standing there.
Draco didn't know what the man was doing, but he knew that it couldn't have been good. He drew his wand and stunned the man, and before anyone else could find them, he wiped his memory clear.
He went to the front of the house, and dashed through the door, and up the stairs. He paused outside the door. The loudest scene he had ever heard was happening on the other side of it. He finally burst through when he heard a scream.
Just as he was opening the door he heard a crack. All that remained in the room was an unconcious snake. The other two were gone.
-----------------------------------------------------
Harry didn't wake up for hours. He occasionally yelled out in his sleep, but that was it. There was nothing she could so, except wait it out. He had woke up sputtering about Voldemort, and the snake. The two now remained in silence.
"You should clean those cuts on your face." He muttered.
Hermione just shrugged. She was too tired to come up with a response.
"They are still bleeding." Harry pointed out.
She sighed in defeat, and went over to their makeshift kitchen. She dampened a washcloth, and dabbed it on her cheeks. the cloth came back red.
"While we were fighting the snake, you blanked out. When I tried to move you, you screamed as if my touch burned you." Harry stated.
She recalled what had happened. "When you had moved me, it had felt as though you had ripped a part of me off, as if a layer of skin had been peeled away. I'm actually still really quite sore from it, and if you don't mind I would like to try and get some sleep.
"That's fine. I'm not tired yet anyways." He replied.
She crawled into bed, and allowed her mind to travel to what she had seen right before she had dissaparated. She had caught a glimpse of him coming through the door. She had caught a glimpse of Draco Malfoy.

Quick shoutout to anyone who commented and voted on the last two chapters. I dedicate this one to you.
I had a wonderful Christmas. My grandparents around really starting to get quite old, so it is not always the same, but it is nice to spend this time with them.
