"What do you mean powers?" Amethyst asked, her heart beating incredibly fast.
"Princess, you are not entirely human." Aelix replied.
"Oh really? And what am I, a witch?" she added sarcastically.
"Yes actually, you are." His face was so serious Amethyst found it hard to figure out if he was telling the truth. To say she was taken aback was an understatement. She did still not believe him, but a small part of her, the part that loved everything magical related, wanted to.
"Haven't you noticed that something wrong was happening to you?" He asked her, his eyes glinting with curiosity.
"No." She lied. She did feel something actually, especially when she was angry or really sad. She felt something in her stomach, like a flame burning, warming her insides. And lately she had started having weird dreams, dreams of her as a kid, always in the same location but different times. There was her mother, always present with her. And then there was this middle aged man whose face was always blurred. He always did the same thing, putting his hands on her temples and reciting something. And then the dreams would stop and change into something else.
"Stop lying. I know you do." He frowned, his upper lip turning upward into a snarl.
"I don't know what you're talking about. Everything is extremely normal with me." She hissed through her clenched teeth.
"Let me enlighten you then." Aelix snapped back. "Your eyes have been recently glowing every time you get furious, just a few moments earlier your perfectly uninjured hand burned the throne and surprisingly you are fantastic with handling a sword, like you've done it for years. So tell me princess, do you believe me now?"
Amethyst avoided looking at him. She gritted her teeth, anger fueling her veins.
"And your eyes are starting to glow so you must be feeling angry." He snapped, a fake smile plastered on his face. She gulped, fear starting to take over her anger. What does he mean glowing? What if he was lying to her? She cannot see her eyes so she cannot be sure. Aelix sighed, relaxing his tense shoulders.
"Come with me." He said, starting to walk into her room. She wanted to protest, saying how inappropriate that was, but she didn't,seeing the situation wasn't right.
She followed him inside and closed the door behind her.
Aelix had his back facing her, looking out the window. His hands were by his sides, in clenched fists and his back was tense.
"Ae-"Amethyst shut up when she saw what was going on in front of her. Aelix has turned to face her now. Somehow he was still the Aelix she knew, but at the same time she could not recognize him. His blue orbs were now so light they were almost white. His features were sharpened to the point of perfection. It was as if he was not real, because such beauty could not exist. And then he held out his hands, his fingers were thinner and longer, and his nails were sharp.
Amethyst stepped back until her back hit the wall behind her. Her blood turned cold, freezing her whole body. Cold sweat started to form at the back of her neck.
"What are you?" She asked so lowly, it could not have been heard.
"I'm a warlock. Basically, I'm a male witch." He replied coldly.
Of course Amethyst believed in magical creatures, but she has never seen one and she did not expect them to have this appearance, or even her trainer to be one of them. And now she started to doubt if she was human also. One would think she should have another reaction to what she's seeing, since she's going to fight witches and pass by elves on the journey, but seeing something so fascinating for the first time would certainly get such a reaction from a girl who has seen nothing of the magical world.
