Her eyes roamed over the black letters, satisfied by what it contained.
"ROYAL FAMILY MURDERED!"
"The royal family, consisting of the king, queen and princess were murdered yesterday. The criminal remains unknown. The Great couple were already dead when they were found this morning, still sound asleep until a servant came to wake them up, only to find them drowning in red. Hired specialists took care of the bodies and they are now safe in caskets. But their lovely daughter, the heir to the throne, was surprisingly missing from her chambers. Many are hoping for her to still be alive. Search parties are out looking for her whereabouts."
Tossing the journal to the nearest person beside her -who was directly next to her since everyone was gathered to gossip about the news- she adjusted the hood of her black coat on her head, and walked away from the sea of people. She could easily hear what they were saying as she made her way to the outside of the village's pub.
"I am sure the princess is still alive"
"Good thing the queen died, I hated her anyway. I always thought she was mean and bitchy"
"Who is going to take the place of the king now?"
"That's just so sad! What is going to happen to us now?"
She rolled her eyes, an action no one saw because her face was well hidden beneath the black cloth. She needed to make sure to stay in the shadows, after all she could not risk being seen, it would be a catastrophe and would ruin all the plans she had worked so hard on.
Kicking a pebble out of the way, she watched it roll to stop at the feet of someone. Dragging her eyes from the black boots, to his black pants, to his black tight tunic showing off his hard muscles, she finally set them on his face, sighing in relief as she recognized him.
"Aelix."
He bowed his head slightly out of respect.
"Your majesty."
"You made sure nobody saw me get out?"
"Yes your majesty."
"They still think the body is in a filthy wood box yes?"
"Of course your majesty, just as you requested."
"Very well then. Thank you for your help. You may return to the castle. And make sure everything stays as planned."
"As you wish , your majesty."
She nodded as she passed by the young man, Aelix, and continued her way to the forest. She heard his steps getting fainter as he returned to his post.
So far, so good. Yet, there was still something missing. A thought nagging on the edges of her mind. She could not remember it. She stopped walking, looking back at the big village. Squinting her eyes, she saw a young woman walking with some other girls her age.
Finally it clicked. The princess! How could she forget? The princess is missing! Gritting her teeth, she began walking again, deep in thought. There was something wrong. The princess should be dead like her parents. If she was still alive, all her plans of ruling over the kingdom would go to waste. She could not take that risk. She made sure to know more about how the princess went missing once she got back to the others. Making sure she was out of view of the villagers, she snapped her fingers and a black horse appeared before her. Removing the hood from her head, she let her midnight black hair cascade down her back, her icy blue eyes glinting in mischief. From now on, her life was sure to a hell of a lot fun.
Adjusting herself on the horse, Orbit turned her back to her past and headed straight on to the promised bright future.
