Chapter 20 (Broken Promises)

Jacob's Point of View (Lab Day 2)

I woke up spooning Luca from behind. For some reason it didn't strike me as odd to wake up like this, in fact I kind of liked it. Luca was still asleep though and I didn't want to wake him up, so I stayed there with my arms around him. When he finally did wake up, he groggily said "morning Jacob, what do you want to eat?" I just laughed and said "is food the first thing that comes to your mind in the morning?" He took his time answering, like he was thinking, before he simply said yes. "Ok then.......how about we have sausage and eggs?" He nodded his head yes before trying to squirm out of my hold.

I rolled off him and headed towards the bathroom to get ready. Meanwhile, Luca went to start cooking the sausages and eggs. When I was done getting ready I headed to the kitchen and was met with a singing and dancing Luca with two plates of food. I happily took one and sat at the counter with him as we ate and talked about what we wanted to do after the Lab today. Luca wanted to go look around town, I had nothing better to do so I told him yes.

When we were done eating I gathered up the plates and other utensils to clean them and told Luca to go get ready. He argued about how he wanted to help clean but eventually gave up when I continued to stand my ground. Eventually it was time to leave so I yelled for Luca to hurry it up. He ran out of the room as he was putting on his shirt.

The ride to the Lab was pretty much annoying because Amber would not stop talking! Even when we landed she continued to hold on to my hand as we made our way to the dome room. We pretty much did the same thing there that we did yesterday, only trying to more strenuous things than we did the day before. Trey picked up heavier objects, Mary flew as fast as she could, Adam tired to stay in wolf form for as long as possible, Amber made more Ambers, and I was made to control a larger amount of water. Luca was the only one not doing anything, since he basically froze the entire room on day one, so he came over and started helping me.

"That's it Jacob, just concentrate on what you want the water to do, not the water itself" said Luca as he walked around me in a circle. Honestly he was not really helping because the second he started talking I started focusing on him and only him! Just his voice alone was causing me to drop a little bit of water. "Luca, dude, please stop talking you're making this harder when you do" I said. He cast his eyes down and whispered a sorry. "It's not your fault, how about you try and help me some other way" I said trying to make him feel better. He scrunched his eye together as he tried to think of a way. That expression disappeared as he came over and lifted my arm up a little bit. I lost control after that one touch and caused all the water, which was in a bubble above us, to come crashing down on us.

I closed my eyes, feeling embarrassed and Luca groaned in discomfort. "Sorry Luca, I got distracted!" I  said frantically. "It's ok, just warn me next time" he said as he began to shake. The water was freezing cold so I just pulled it off of me. I then went over to Luca and put my hands on his shoulders to keep him from moving, "Hold still so I can get the water off." He relaxed into my touch, allowing me to work. Once the water was off, Luca gave me a small thank you and moved to sit down.

Once the scientist said we were done, I rushed over to Luca and piratically dragged him to the bus. The ride back home was more enjoyable than the one over because I got to focus on Luca, except Amber fell asleep on my shoulder. When we landed I woke Amber up and tried to get her off me but she asked me "can you please walk me home?" I nodded yes and began to walk with her, mouthing to Luca "I'll see you at home."

We got to her door and was about to turn away when she clung on to my hand and asked "so.....when are we going on our first date?" I turned a little red as I rubbed the back of my neck and said "h-how about tomorrow night?" She smiled and said "looking forward to it" as she opened her door. Before she left she turned back around and gave me a kiss on the cheek. My cheeks turned really hot and I felt my palms start to sweat. With that I returned back to my apartment with a small smile on my own face.
