Jacob's Point of View

The person that walked through my door was the last person I expected to see again so soon. I mean he left us right before we went on the tour to god knows where! Yet here he was standing in front of the door as if it was the most natural thing in the world. "Um Councilman........sorry I can't remember your name" I said to the blond haired man in black. "It is alright, you're new to the city and I don't expect you to remember me right away. I'm Councilman Mathew" he said smiling. "Oh yeah, sorry" I said looking down feeling both ashamed for not remembering his name and because it became rather silent afterwards.

The councilman was the first to break the silence by saying "I'm sorry to barge in on you while you are getting acquainted with your knew living quarters but I needed to speak with you before your new room mate arrives." "Oh of course come in. Can I get you anything to drink?" I stuttered out trying to keep calm, but having him here kind of made me nervous. "Thank you and no I don't want anything. May I sit?" he responded pointing towards the couch. I nodded yes trying not to use my voice because I was sure that it would crack from the nerves.

"Haha you have no reason to be nervous Jacob, you're not in trouble. I just came to get to know you better" he said looking at me with humor in his eyes. I relaxed after this but was curious as to why he wanted to know more about me, "Why do you want to know more about me, I'm not very special?" He gave me a calculating look almost like he didn't believe. "Oh but you are, your soon to be roommate is a very good friend of mine and I want to know if this will work" he said leaning back on the couch.

"Oh, well...can you tell me who my roommate is?" I asked getting a little curious as to who it was that was on such good terms with someone this important. "You'll meet him soon enough but for now tell me about yourself" he said obviously avoiding the question. "Well as you know my name is Jacob. My favorite sport is soccer. I love to work out. Um... oh and I love to help people who need it" I said trying to think of everything about me.

"Hm, interesting. What about your family, what are they like?" he asked not taking his eyes off of me. I had completely forgotten about my family the moment I jumped on that plane, but now that he said something all the memories flooded back and I dropped my head trying to hold back the tears. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked you, you can talk to whoever you want about it when you are ready" said the Councilman while putting a hand on my knee. I looked up into his eyes and saw that he understood. "Thank you" I said while giving a small smile.

He leaned back into the couch again asked "so do you like your new apartment?" "Yes definitely. It's really big and very nice" I said as I gave the place another look. "I'm glad, it's much nicer and larger than what the other kids got" he said smiling from, what I am guessing, my excitement. This made my happiness less "why did I get a better apartment, I'm no different from them" I said because I honestly didn't think I deserved special treatment. "Oh it's not because of you, lets just say your roommate has special....privileges for......being here so long" he replied aware of my concern. That made me feel a little better but not much.

After a few more minutes of talking about anything really the Councilman stood up and said "well it was nice meeting you Jacob but I should really go." I stood up and escorted him to the door while being polite and saying "Oh of course Councilman you too." "I hope you like living here Jacob, we will stay in touch" he said as he walked out and disappeared. I closed the door and went over to the couch to watch TV, I still wanted to meet my roommate before I go to sleep.

I spent a good ten  minutes trying to figure out how to work the TV since it was a hollow-projection type device. Just when I started figuring it out I heard the door open and close so I turned it off to go meet them. I was really excite to meet them because the Councilman had said that they were a close friend of his and that they have been here a long time. Oh god that may mean that it's some old guy!!!
