Sasha's P.O.V
I rushed over to my dad and knelled next to me.
"Dad! Dad! Are you okay! I-I do you need the doctor!"
"No. I'm fine."
He stood up slowly and limped to the back of the store. I looked at the store to see it was a mess, I stood up and changed the sign to close and shut the door. I quickly went to the back towards where papa would be. He was cleaning up his face which was all bloody.
"Dad.."
"It's fine Sasha, it's nothing don't worry."
"But why did they do that. Did they not like the book?"
"No-I don't know, just pretend this didn't happen. Don't say anything about this."
"Bu-"
"No."
I looked at him and nodded.
"Now, just go and clean up the place we'll close up early."
I walked back towards the books and started picking them up. I looked down at the bloody floor, it sent chills up my spine.
"I don't understand."
I looked back to see the street was dead, no one was out and seems like all the stores were closed. The image of the man's face wouldn't leave my head and the way he beat my father.
"All done Sasha?"
"Yeah. I'm coming."
I placed the books of the shelves and followed my dad towards the car.
"Where are we going."
"Home."
I nodded.
"Hey come on kiddo. Forget about it, now we can go home and be with your new sister."
I smiled and nodded. Right, my oath. I promised to protect her. We were on the way home when I noticed the houses we were passing by people were running out of them with the men with red bands running after them. I looked at dad,
"Um, don't worry Sasha. There just playing tag, you know adults can play to," he chuckled.
I smiled,
"How come we don't join them."
"W-Well, were going home and I have to do work."
I nodded. I learn something new everyday.
We pulled up to the front of the house and we stopped. I got out the car and ran into the house,
"Mom! Were home," I yelled.
My mom looked up from her work at the dinning table and smiled,
"Hi honey. Wheres your father."
"Right here," he smiled.
Her eyes widened,
"Hey Sasha mind checking on the baby."
I nodded and ran over to Angel's new room. She was in her basket sleeping. I watched her but I could hear my parents arguing.
"I told you not to take her! I knew this would happen."
"Look I'm sorry I didn't know they would show up!"
"They are if we don't pay for the library. Then they'll come here."
"I know, I need to shut down but then how are we going to earn money."
I peeked out to see my mom pacing.
"We need to move. Now!"
"We can't just pack our bags and leave Maria! What about the baby! What about Sasha for heaven sakes!"
"Well do you have a plan!"
The fighting stopped when there was a knock on the door. My dad peeked in the hole and suddenly ran towards my way. He opened the door and grabbed Angel and my hand.
"It's them." mouthed my dad.
My mom bit her lip and ran towards her room and opened the closet. She shoved my in and gave my Angel.
"Sasha no matter what happens do not come out."
I could hear someone pound on the door yelling something.
"M-Mom?"
"Don't move. Don't speak. Take care of Angel."
Before She shut the doors she placed a cloth over Angel. It smelled weird then she closed the door. I could only see through the crack in the closet. I could hear the door burst open and my dad yell something.
POW POW POW.
I held Angel close.
I could hear the back door open and people running out. I could feel my heart pound against my chest and I felt my blood go cold. I could hear shots in the distance. Tears suddenly slipped from my eyes. I slowly opened the door and walked out still carrying Angel in my hands. I peeked out the door to see nothing but blood.
I walked out the room and my eyes widened. There were dead people on the ground, they had the red arm bands on there arms. I looked out through the back door to see nothing. Tears dripped down hitting the floor. I stood there in the blood of the men and my mom and dad no where to be seen.
And this is where my oath really turned into a promise and my life....
