Commander Rester sat in the computer filled room twiddling his thumbs, waiting for the world's greatest detective to assign him work. Near had taken over as L after defeating Light Yagami five years prior, causing criminals to be judged rightfully. After Kira had been killed, crime skyrocketed drastically. They didn't fear for their lives anymore; many people lived in constant fear because of this. The young, white haired man happened to be the same age as L when he started the Kira investigation, 24. Since most crimes weren't challenging, Near often aided the police with catching perpetrators.

Near was on the floor, currently constructing structures made out of tarot cards. "Rester, the police requested that L sends them the files on the embezzlement scandal. Have you done so?"

"Yes, I sent them as soon as we wrapped up the case. They should have gone through Watari." The Commander answered confidently.

"Oh, and another thing." The detective placed one final tarot card into the structure, completing the building. "I need a new dart board; perhaps you could buy me another one?"

"Sure thing, Near! I'll go get one now." With that said, Anthony Rester pushed his chair in and headed out the building. Near was left alone, but he didn't mind. He decided to assemble his train set while he waited for Rester to get back.

*************************************************************************************************************************

After constructing the train, Near received a call from Rodger (Rodger had replaced Watari after his and L's deaths.) "L, I never received the files from R. Could have him send them to me? The police need them to convict the culprit." The white haired detective went to the files on his computer and sent them instead; this was so that they didn't waste precious time.

"You should have them now. Goodbye." He picked up his train; it then began moving in his hand. "Whoosh! Whoosh!" The wheels echoed off the tracks, which made it sound like an actual train trailing down a track.

Rester then walked into the main room. "I got the dart board. It's supposed to last a lifetime, so this should be good for a while."

Near ignored him. "Why didn't you send the files to Watari? They were almost a day late."

"I did! I'll show you." The Commander headed over to his computer to prove Near wrong. "See, they're right-" He gasped. "My whole computer has been deleted!"

Near pushed his chair over to Rester's. He took the mouse out of Rester's hand and clicked on some programs. "This computer isn't safe to use; we've been hacked. Use that one over there for work." He slid away, going back to his train as though nothing had happened.

"Near, how could this have happened? Was it a program that I intercepted online, or an actual person?"

"A person. It would have to be a live and very elaborate hack, since we have the highest level of security for computers. Whoosh!" A wheel fell off of the train.

Anthony Rester was stunned. "How do you think they did it?"

Near put some Lego figurines on the floor and acted out the scene. "First, they would have had to build a separate program and study our computer movements. Next, they would model our firewall while trying to break through. The perpetrator would reverse engineer it, so that he could find the weak points. Finally," He smashed the computer Lego. "he would destroy your computer's system." Near twirled his white hair, irritation clear on his face.

Years ago, Matt had designed the system. In return, Near would give him Matt's location. The three of them had gone to the same orphanage as children, Wammy's house.

"It's been a long day, Near. I think I'm heading to my apartment." The Commander sighed, heading out the door.

Near continued playing with the Legos, thinking to himself. The way this person acted, it's strangely similar to another case. He moved over to his computer, and searched for the particular case that was clouding his mind. Here it is, "Blue Money" this case is too similar to how this person acted. Unfortunately, the case was never solved, but Near decided to investigate it in hopes of getting a better insight on the hack.

The case was so mysterious that it never even got any suspects. Eventually, the "Blue Money" hacks stopped, remaining mysterious. The person would model a bank's firewall, break it, and steal over half of what was in it. This happened in March of 2013, which was a little over two years ago.

I guess I'll solve both cases, killing two birds with one stone. Near trailed his grey eyes over the screens.

And on that date, December 3rd, 2015, a new battle of wits had begun.
