*Jessica POV*
A knock sounds at the door and Mrs Scott goes to answer it. "Oh!" She announces, taking a step back from the door.
I hear a familiar voice ask, "Is Jessica staying here ma'am?"
I rise from the sofa and go to the front door. "What are you doing here?"
"I'll excuse you two for a moment." Mrs Scott retreats to the kitchen.
I turn to Elvis, "Well?"
He stares down at me, "I wanted to see ya."
"Why? I thought I'd made my intentions rather clear in the letter," I cross my arms in front of me.
He smirks at me, "If ya didn't want to see me, why did ya come to the hotel?"
I blush and look away from him. "I uh, I wanted to come and tell you how I felt."
He steps closer to me and pulls me towards him, hugging me close, "What about how I feel?"
I pull away from his embrace and look into his eyes, "And how do you feel Elvis?"
"I-I-I-I don't know. But I know I feel differently about you than I've felt about anyone in a long time. Shouldn't that be enough? That kiss we shared last night was somethin' special, and I'd hate if it were just a one time thing," his eyes soften as they meet mine.
I turn away from him and go to shut the door, "I'm sorry, but I-."
He pushes the door back open and storms inside. "I'm not lettin' you get away. I can tell by the way you look at me, you have feelin's for me. Dammit Jessica, I don't know why you're being so resistant to me!"
I turn towards him suddenly, tears falling from my eyes. "You wouldn't understand!"
Elvis pulls me close as sobs erupt from me, "I know I don't darlin', but I'll try to. You've gotta give me a chance."
Daisy walks down the stairs and glances at the two of us, "What's going on? Jessica, what's the matter?" She rushes over and pushes Elvis off of me and wraps me in a tight hug. "Elvis, we need a minute."
"Okay, I-I'll be outside," he turns and leaves the house.
I look up at Daisy. "Why are you crying? Is it because of Elvis?" I shake my head, "Then what was- oh... honey, shhh." She hugs me tighter, "He's not going to be like that. Not all boys are like that."
I pull away and look towards the door, "I can't tell him what happened. I-I don't want to scare him off. But I'm afraid of getting close to him. I can't let my guard down."
Daisy wraps her arm around my shoulder, "You don't have to tell him about it right now, just go out there and talk to him, he seems like he really cares about you. Hell, he took the time to find you after you told him you didn't want to be with him."
I nod, then walk to the door. Opening it, I find Elvis sitting on the steps, staring at his hands. He looks over his shoulder at me, then stands and faces me. "Are you alright now?"
I run over and embrace him, "Yes, I'm alright now." He looks down at me and wipes the stray tears from my eyes. "I'm sorry if I upset you. I do have some feelings for you, but there's something holding me back from them. I'm sorry."
He leans in and kisses my forehead, "It's alright. I won't press ya for nothin' 'less you want to tell me." He hugs me tight, then gazes down at me,"Do ya wantta go to dinner with me later this evenin'?"
I smile lightly at him, "Of course, but can I ask something of you?"
"Course darlin'."
"Would it be alright if we didn't kiss, at least until I can explain why I got all freaked out?" He nods, "I just, don't want another episode like a few minutes ago. I hate crying, especially in front of people."
