(Y/F/F)- Your Favorite Flower

_______________________________________________________________________

You sat in your bedroom, listening to your "Jimmy Dorsey and his Orchestra" cassette while playing around on your laptop. It was the 21st century, but there was just something about his 1938 songs that sparked your attention, especially his "Tangerine" album. You were bored out of your mind considering it had been weeks since you had heard from Bucky. He would have usually called you by now, but not a word had come to you about him or from him.  You knew that he was probably fine, but it still put you on edge. He was your best friend and all but, of course, he would be gone months at  a time on missions and everything else. Sometimes you wondered what it would be like if he was your boyfriend, how he would react when he came home. "Hey baby, I missed you so much!" would be nice. But, it was not meant to be. He was so clueless that you liked him that it drove you insane, but you loved him the same no matter.

You were drawn out of your thoughts when you heard your door slam and heavy footsteps lead towards your room. "Honey! I'm home!" You heard Bucky call from the hallway. Speak of the devil and he shall appear.  A grin quickly found its way onto your face as you raced to your door, practically throwing it open.

"Bucky!" You yelled, running to him in your over sized sweatshirt, underwear, and Captain America socks. You gripped onto his neck, kissing him on the cheek and wrapping your legs around his waist. "Hey baby girl," he whispered in your ear, sending shivers down your spine. That's new, you thought as your grip loosened from around his neck and set your legs on the floor. You had realized that Bucky had not been hugging you back.

"Buck, is everything okay?" you asked him, feeling a but anxious. He simply smiled and looked at you with proud, loving eyes. "Everything is perfect Doll. Absolutely perfect." After saying this, he brought his hand out from behind his back to reveal a bouquet of (Y/F/F). You threw your hand over your mouth, the flowers were wrapped in a shimmering silk cloth with a purple bow tied around them. "Oh Buck. Thank you, they're beautiful," you exclaimed, gently taking the flowers from his hands and holding them against your chest. You wanted to be happy, but couldn't help feeling some concern for the randomness of the gift. "But what are these for?" You asked. And with that single question, his face lit up like the Fourth of July. "Yes! I was hoping you would ask that. Come sit down on the couch and I will explain to you my entire scientific reasoning behind this." He answered, rushing over to you so you could sit on your bed.

"Okay," he began. "So last night after the mission , in which I kicked some ass, I was heading back to my hotel so that I could sleep some before I had to drive home today. Well on my way home, I went into this coffee shop to grab me one of your fancy little mocha-whatever drinks so that I would be able to stay awake. Well, as I walked in there, I saw this girl," Your heart plummeted at those four words, The flowers were just so he could make an apology that he's moving out and marrying some girl. God, you are so stupid for thinking you had a chance with him. "Hey! (Y/N)! Are you okay?"

You looked up at him. "Huh? Oh, uh yeah. I'm cool. Just, uh, just zoned out for a second I guess." You explained, putting on a fake smile to seal the deal. He smiled back. "Great. Anyways, back to my story. So, I saw this girl, and had one of those black and white striped bags that you like to carry around when we go out in stuff. Well, she was over my the jukebox looking for some music and whatever and she puts on "Personality" by Johnny Mercy featuring the Pied Pipers, and she started dancing and she loved it. And that's when I thought about how everything was before I went to war and Steve became Mr. United States and everything and I couldn't help but sing along to the song because I remembered how many gals I picked up with that song. And I couldn't help but smile at the memory of how many girls told me they loved me and me telling them I loved them even though I didn't and it made me think 'Am I ever going to find me one gal that loves what I love?'" You wanted to roll your eyes at that, but continued to listen anyways. "But, that's when I realized something. I had already found her."

Again, your heart totally hit the floor. Tears welled up in your eyes and stung because you refused to let them fall. "Tha-That's great Buck. So, uh, when do I get to meet her? You know, since I'm kinda your best friend and all, I have to approve." You gave a fake little laugh and smiled a small smile. His face beamed. "That's what I wanted to talk to you about." He grabbed your hand and led you through the hallway and stopped in front of his door. "Now close your eyes, but no peeking, got it?" You nodded and closed your eyes. You were a little thrown off as you walked into the room and heard him close the door. It was strange that he had already brought the girl, it was very abnormal of him to do this but, you know, people change.

You heard the door open once again and was greeted by the sounds of Bucky's heavy steps. "Ok, now just do as I say." He said, slight excitement in his voice. You nodded your head and did as he directed you. He pulled you forward and had you stand straight up. "You ready?" He questioned. You internally sighed. "Yeah, I'm ready." "Okay, now open your eyes."

You did open your eyes and you did see a person, just not the one you were expecting. In front of your stood a full length mirror, showing an image of yourself, eyes confused, mouth slightly ajar. "What? I'm confused." You asked wearily. But when you looked to your side and did not see Bucky. You did a complete 180 and your eyes widened. There before stood a blushing James Buchanan Barnes with a gold necklace in the shape of a heart with a ruby star in the center. "Bucky?" you questioned.

"Yeah, I know it took me like two years to figure it out but I finally realized that you're the one for me Doll. I realized that I had fallen in love with you like, forever ago. But it took look at some girl in a café to realize, you're the one. You're the girl for me. Now, I'm not asking ya to marry me, but I hope you'll be mine. I'm sorry I'm so late, but I'm still hoping that you'll have me. So, (Y/FN), will you be my gal 'til the end of the line?" he asked you, his blush growing so large it began crawling down to his neckline.

You were speechless, you didn't know what to do. You had been dreaming of this moment forever and now you didn't know how to answer. But after a few moments, you threw your arms up around his neck and kissed him. Immediately he responded with kissing back, wrapping his arm around the curve of your back and leaning you forward into a dipping position. After you both ran out of breath, he pulled you forward and touched both of your foreheads together, his hot breath going down your neck.

"I love you," you said, tears springing into your eyes. He chuckled. "I love you more Doll."
