Christine Daae

"Erik, there's a letter in the mail from the managers of the opera house!", I slammed the door and walked into the house. Gustave ran up and greeted me with a rose from the garden. I smiled and ruffled his hair before Erik walked up. I smiled and began to open the letter we had nervously been waiting for ever since we heard of the reopening of the opera house.

"Well, read it quickly! We haven't a minute to spare before I burst with curiosity!"

"Yes, yes, just a minute, Erik! It takes more than a second to open an envelope.", I reminded him. I began to read the letter:

             Christine Daae-

As you may or may not know, we are in the middle of reopening. It would be our great pleasure if you would like to be our new primma donna. Please write back as soon as possible or meet us at the office around five o' clock tomorrow.

            Most kind regards,

                     Monsieur Firmin and Monsieur Andre.

"Those two are still around?", Erik groaned.

"Oh, Erik! Could I take the offer? It would be so wonderful to sing on stage again and I truly have missed the dancing and acting! I beg you, Erik!", I pouted while I begged in an attempt to get Erik to give in. He sighed and held my hands.

"If this is truly what you want, I will say yes, but I have some things I'd like you to tell the managers. Tell them it's from the opera ghost."

"Alright. What would you like me to tell them?"

"I'll write a list."

The next day

"Madame! How lovely it is to see you again! My, your ring! How beautiful your ring is!", Andre kissed my hand. I faked a smile as he let me into the office. Andre always was sucking up to people to get what he wanted. I sat down on the chair in front of the desk. Firmin reached his hand over and flashed a half-hearted smile.

"Let's get down to business, shall we?", He said seriously. I nodded and unfolded the list Erik had made.

"Well, I have a few things I need to say.", I announced. They nodded in approval and I continued. "There's no way to put this other than to just say it: The opera ghost still lives within the opera house. He may never leave.", The two men sighed. I ignored them and continued.

"He requests that you leave box five empty for his use, just as you did before. He no longer requests money for himself, but does demand that I be paid twenty thousand francs a month. Finally, any opera he writes or requests will be sung and played. I'm sure you are both quite aware of what will happen if you don't respond well to his demands.", I said calmly. They sighed and reluctantly agreed.

"What about you? Any requests?", Andre asked. Firmin tried to hide his irritation.

"Oh, me? I only have two: You must knock before entering my dressing room. I like my privacy just as much as any other woman. Also, I want Meg to be the star dancer. She deserves it. She gave her heart to this opera house.", They nodded in agreement and with that, I went home.

Erik didn't greet me as I got home. I contemplated asking him what was wrong, but I didn't. I was far too tired to start an argument. Instead, I walked past him and checked on Gustave. He slept peacefully in his bed. I quietly shut the door and went to bed. As I fell asleep, I felt two arms slide around my body. I remained silent.

"Are you awake, Mon Ange?", Erik's voice asked in a loving voice.

"Barely, but yes.", I mumbled.

"I just...Do you love me?", That caught my attention. My eyes opened and I turned to him. He looked worried.

"Erik, of course I do! What on earth would ever make you doubt that?", I said seriously.

"I don't doubt it. I'm just worried what will happen to us when you go back to that opera house to sing.", He sighed.

"Erik, I love you. I will never, never leave you.", I kissed his lips and he smiled.

"Alright. I love you."

"We must sleep. We have long days ahead of us. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

I am incredibly sorry for many things! 1- I am so sorry it took so long to get this chapter up. It's the beginning of the book and the plot is constantly being changed so chapter updates will be a little slow. 2- I am very sorry how SHORT this chapter is! My chapters are rarely ever this short and are usually 1000 words at minimum(this chapter is only about 730 words) I promise chapters will be getting longer. Love you guys- Bella
