Erik Destler

What was happening? Who was that on stage with Christine? Then, I noticed it. The gun pressed against her head. The familiar smirk on his face: William.

"Gustave, my boy, stay here.", I ordered. Gustave nodded faintly. I ran, not stopping till I reached the stage. I had to do something to save her.

"Well, I'm sure you're all fairly confused.", His bitter voice rang through out the opera house. "Don't worry, everyone. I won't hurt your precious songbird. I just want to play a little game, so to speak."

I stared at Christine. I had to do something. If it came down to it, I'd kill him. I wouldn't hesitate killing him if it meant Christine would be safe.

"I am a man of my word. I'd like Christine to sing some of her song for her lover, or angel of music, or whatever the hell she calls him. Go on Christine.", He chuckled and held her tightly as she whimpered.

"W-Who knows when love begins? Who knows what makes it start? One day it's simply there, alive, inside your...heart. ", Although she was nervous, I still felt myself getting lost in her voice. "L-Love never dies..Love never falters. "

As I listened to her singing, I realized William was staring at me. He quickly stopped Christine by pressing on her throat.

"Wait, my dear, I think we have a guest!"

"Erik!", She choked, staring into my eyes with the same amount of pain I was looking at her with.

"Sir, this is indeed an unparalleled delight! I had rather hoped that you would come!", He chuckled. Christine tried to run to me, but he held her tightly. "No! And now, my wish comes true! You have truly made my night!"

"You dare to use my own words against me?", I asked angrily.

"Ah, but that was a long time ago, Erik, and you were playing a different game.", He smirked. Reluctantly, I agreed to the game.

"Free her, do what you like, only free her! Have you no pity?", I growled.

"Your lover makes a passionate plea.", He purred to her. She ignored him and looked at me.

           "Erik, it's useless!"

"I love her! Does that mean nothing? I love her! Show some compassion!", I shouted, walking closer to him, revealing myself on the stage.

"Like you showed compassion to me?", He scoffed.

"Let go of the girl now!", I demanded.

"No! No, I'm not done yet.", He pulled her closer to him. "Take off the mask, Erik."

"No! Erik, don't you dare-", William cut Christine off, screaming at her.

             "Shut up!"

"I'll do it if you let her go."

"Erik, don't.", Christine begged, but I didn't listen. I had to do this.

Christine Daae

He didn't have to do this for me. He didn't have to save me like this. He didn't have to expose himself to everyone, but he did.

He slid the mask off with ease, along with the wig. People gasped, some screamed, a few sobs broke out. I cried, for I knew this could very well be the last time I ever got to see his beautiful face.

"Now let her go.", Erik said cautiously.

              "Not a chance!", William cackled.

"You're a man of your word.", Erik reminded him.

"I never said I would let her go. This has been fun and all, but I think it's time for us to go, don't you think?", William smiled at me. Before I could think, a gunshot fired, people broke out into screams, and the world quickly faded away.

I promise the next chapter is way longer! This chapter has to be short for reasons I won't say. Love you guys- Bella.
