It took her all week, but Genevieve had finally gotten into a routine.
In the morning, her mother would driver her to school. Genevieve would keep her head down at school, eat lunch in the band locker room, and Bella would drive her home.
She actually started to like Bella. For all her enthusiasm about the whole supernatural, she was actually very easy to talk to. Sometimes, Bella would treat Genevieve like a kid (to be fair, she was three years older than Genevieve) but it reminded her that Bella was only trying to watch out for her.
At home, Genevieve would do her homework. And when she was done with that, she'd play her piano. At first, she would look out her window. But when she saw one of the Cullens in the woods, or when she saw a huge wolf lingering in the shadows, she started to stay away from the windows at night. It made it easier on her when it was time to lay down and sleep.
When the weekend came, Genevieve didn't know what to do with herself.
Her mother was working, and the only people she'd consider her friends were vampires. She wasn't sure how good of company they'd be anymore.
She sighed, jumping slightly when there was a knock at the front door.
Killer vampires don't knock, Eve. Calm down.
Genevieve opened the door when she saw it was Bella through the peephole. "Hey Bella. Everything okay?"
"Yeah," Bella stood with her hands in her coat pocket. Her composure was calm, a constant, Genevieve noticed, with Bella. "The Cullens are going hunting today, so I'm going down to the rez with Jacob. You should come with."
"You want me to third wheel on your not-date with Jacob?" Genevieve wrinkled her nose, "no offense Bella, but that doesn't sound too appealing."
Bella winced, looking embarrassed. "You could hang out with some of the other guys. Jacob mentioned that you've already met some of them."
Genevieve pursed her lips. She knew she didn't really have any other choice than to go; if the Cullens were gone that meant she would be left alone unless the wolves sat outside her house. It wasn't their fault they had to babysit her, the least she could do was meet them halfway. And besides, she didn't really want to spend the day stuck inside again.
"Sure, why not." Genevieve turned to grab her keys from the little table near the door before following Bella, making sure to lock the door behind her.
She wasn't surprised that Edward's car was there, waiting for the two. Edward was overly cautious with Bella. The only reason she was able to drive to and from school without him was because he knew Genevieve still wasn't comfortable being in confined spaces with the vampires, and he respected that. It made her like Edward a bit more after Bella told her that.
"Hi Eddy," Genevieve greeted as she slid into the back seat, strapping on her seatbelt.
"Hi Genny," Edward responded. Genevieve glanced in the rearview mirror, locking eyes with Edward's for a brief moment. She felt her chest clench when she noticed how dark his eyes were, quickly pushing the feeling aside.
"Don't call me that," she grumbled as Edward started to drive.
"Then don't call me Eddy," he shot back.
Genevieve rolled her eyes, choosing to ignore the couple as they began talking. She watched the trees blur as they drove by, Edward of course speeding as they drove.
The drive wasn't long, Genevieve perking up when she saw Jacob's car parked on the side of the road. Jacob was leaning against the front of the car. Shirtless.
