The day after the wedding, Genevieve was surprised when she found Jacob standing on her doorstep. She was surprised when he apologized for throwing her the other night. And she was surprised when he asked if she wanted to hang out with him.

She wasn't surprised that he complained about Bella and Edward in the beginning. It's exactly what she expected from Jacob.

She was surprised when he seemed genuinely interested in getting to know her. She was surprised by how they managed to get close, as if there was never any tension between them to begin with. The days went by slowly, her time consumed by the three boys in her life.

If she wasn't with Seth, she was spending time with Jacob. If she wasn't with either of them, she was with Matthew.

"You're going to the beach?"

"I'm not going to be swimming, stupid." Genevieve rolled her eyes at Matthew as she pulled a sweatshirt over her head. "The pack is having a picnic and invited me. You know I never say no to Emily's food."

"Jacob's going to be there?"

Genevieve threw him a look, already tired off the conversation Matthew was trying to start. "Jacob's part of the pack, so yes. He's also the only one who offered to come pick me up. Seth doesn't have his license yet, Mom has the car, and I don't feel like taking my bike down to First Beach."

Matthew hummed as he leaned against the door frame. "Y'know, I'm surprised Seth's jealous of how much time you've been spending with Jacob. If I didn't know any better, I wouldn't be able to tell who your Coresurio is."

"Shut up," Genevieve snapped. She'd lost count of the small comments Matthew had been making about how close she and Jacob had gotten, annoyed that he was being so critical of her friendship with him. "Jacob just needs someone to talk to. I think I'm the only friend he has outside the pack."

"That's sad," Matthew rolled his eyes, voice dripping with fake sincerity.

"Aren't I still your only friend in Forks?"

Matthew hesitated. "I have friends here."

Genevieve rolled her eyes, grabbing her phone from her bed as she heard a car horn from outside. "Go make friends while I'm gone, yeah?"

She didn't wait for a response as she ran out of the house, quickly climbing into the passenger seat of the car waiting for her. "Hi Jake."

"Hey, Gen." Jacob smiled as he pulled out of the driveway, heading towards the beach. "Fish-boy giving you trouble again?"

"We're not fish, Jake." Genevieve rolled her eyes, "you know how he is. He loves making my life difficult but it's nothing I can't handle." She paused, turning her head to face him. "Anything new?"

"No," Jacob sighed. "I'm telling you, Bella's my imprint."

Jacob had recently gotten into a habit of driving around in hopes that he'd run into his imprint, but nothing has happened. And that is only feeding into the idea he has that Bella is his imprint. Genevieve tried to tell him how unhealthy of a habit it was, but Jacob being Jacob wouldn't drop it. He was annoyingly persistent once he got his mind set on something.
