-Carmen's POV-
"Magic." I said. Thorn nodded."Now you're getting it." She said. "And now that you know how to use it... well, I just can't let that knowledge get out." She put on the bracelet, and the charm started glowing. The shadows of two identical creatures, their red eyes aglow, appeared before me. They were wolves, growling as they approached. Thorn giggled and disappeared. But even though she was gone, her laughter continued to ring in my ears.
I backed up. I didn't have the charm to defend myself with anymore- just another thing Thorn had taken from me. I ran into the bed and fell on top of it, giving one of the wolves a chance to leap on top of me. I stared into the wolf's eyes, telling it that I didn't plan on giving in. I turned over, throwing it off for a moment, and took my chance to run to the door.
But, I didn't reach it- the wolf tackled me again. Now, I was laying on my stomach. I saw their shadows looming over me, saw the menacing red glow of their eyes on the floor. Whack. I felt the weight lift off of my back. I looked up, and I would have never expected who I saw.
"Dad?" He was supposed to be asleep! Dad held an axe in his hands, probably what he had just hit that wolf with. I glanced at the first wolf to see that it was dead now. The second one turned on Dad. I grabbed the axe and took a swing, knocking the wolf back. It charged at me, but I swung again, slashing right across the beast's neck. It fell to the ground, also dead. I handed the axe back to Dad.
"T- Thanks, Dad..." I said.
"No problem, Carmen." He replied. I could only assume he had just gotten used to me calling him my dad, because he had responded to it. "I should probably clean this off before my wife sees it. Er, before your mother sees it. If she knows what happened, she'll be obsessing over us like no tomorrow." I chuckled. Spellbound or not, he was still my father, and he still acted like it. I felt slightly reassured that he hadn't changed entirely. So, Dad walked out of the room. I climbed into bed.
Just before I fell asleep, a thought popped into my mind that made me feel even more accomplished, if thay was possible. Just wait until Thorn finds out about this.
