The room was silent for several minutes, Carter staring down at his hands as he thought. A sigh escaped his lips before he looked up at Jackson, nodding once. “Okay, I’m in.” Though he didn’t look it, his voice made it obvious he was ready for it to happen. Jackson nodded, sitting on the arm of the chair across from the couch. “For now, we act like nothing is wrong. We play it cool for a couple weeks, act like all is good. And when the time comes, I’m going to tell you what to do. For now, get your phone out. Call X and tell him that Lola found Ellie in the alley way almost dead. Tell him he needs to go see her, that you guys think it was the Alpha of another pack.” Carter reach for his phone, dialing X’s number. As he talked to X, Jackson stayed quiet. When he finally hung up, Jackson grabbed Carter’s phone and selected Lola’s number, putting the phone to his ear. As soon as he heard her pick up on the other line, he didn’t give her a second to talk. “It’s Jackson. X is on his way over. Tell him you find Ellie, not me. You found her and you think it was another alpha, using her as a warning. Play it cool. Whatever I do and say, just go along with it. I’ll be there in a few.” And with his last word, Jackson hung up the phone, reaching it back to Carter. “Alright man, I have to go. Now make sure you don’t tell anybody about this.” Jackson said, smiling slightly as Carter nodded. “I need to change so he won‘t smell the blood.” He reminded himself, running back to his bedroom. He switched his hoodie for a white v-neck t-shirt, pulling on his black leather jacket. He looked at his shoe choice, exchanging the sneakers for leather loafers. He slipped his wallet into his pocket before leaving out the door. As he wandered down the streets he looked around, seeing a small café a few buildings up. To his luck, they weren’t too busy. He ordered a container of soup for Ellie, a loaf of bread to go with it. He looked at the time, knowing that X would already be at Lola and Ellie’s flat. He paid for the food, making a quick exit from the building. In five minutes, he had reach the flat. He took in a deep breath and knocked on the door, not surprised to see X answer the door. “What are you doing here?” He growled. Jackson looked at him as if he were confused. “Uhm, Lola called. She asked me to pick up something to eat for her and Ellie.” Jackson shot back, making sure not too reply too quickly. He couldn’t blow this. As Lola appeared beside X, she looked like a small child. He was about a foot taller than her. “Oh Jackson, come in!” Lola said, stepping out of the way so he could fit through the door frame. ‘Okay, Jackson. Pull this off.’ He told himself in his mind. He smirked as he walked in,  grabbing Lola‘s hand and bringing it up to his lips. He planted a gentle kiss on the top of her hand, lacing their fingers together. X examined the both of them, a look of shock on his face. “You two, together? Are you kidding me?” X asked. Jackson’s smirk widened as he pulled Lola towards him, wrapping her up in a hug. “Yeah, but just hear me out X. I know you said that you didn’t want me with anyone in the pack but,” Jackson let out a sigh of happiness, looking into Lola’s eyes, then Xavier’s. “I just couldn’t help it. Something about her just drives me insane. If I don’t have her, I won’t ever be complete.” Jackson explained, shrugging. Lola giggled, placing her free hand on Jackson’s chest. “Oh stop it, Jackson. It’s okay for us to be together.” She said, she and Jackson both looking at Xavier now. “It is okay, isn’t it, X?” Lola said, her voice sounding like a little kids. X clinched his jaw, staring the both of them down. “Just don’t let it get in the way of pack business.” He growled, grabbing the door knob. “I’ll be back to check on Ellie in the morning.” X told Lola, shutting the door behind him as he left. He and Lola stood there for a few minutes, both of them letting out a sigh when they knew he wasn’t going to come back and investigate everything. Jackson walked into the kitchen, Lola joining him. “So when did you plan on telling me we’re a couple now?” Lola teased, getting a bowl down from a cabinet. Jackson took the bowl from her, laughing softly. “Just trust me Lola. As long as you play along with me, you, Ellie, Carter, Addison and I are going to be fine. Can you do it?” He asked, pouring the soup from its container into the bowl that was now in front of him. She nodded firmly, handing him a spoon. “I know I can do this. I’ve got faith in you.” She told him, smiling softly. He returned the smile, picking up the rest of the items he had brought for Ellie. As he was walking down the hall, Lola placed her hand on his shoulder. “Treat her right, Jackson. That girl deserves the best.” She whispered. Jackson looked down at her, nodding before he headed through the door, making sure to shut it behind him. He was relieved to see Ellie now sitting up on her own, watching what appeared to be a talk show. She now had on a pair of yoga shorts and a loose fitting tank top. When she saw him, she smiled wide. “You came back! Did you bring me food? And a movie?” She asked, almost sounding like a kid asking if they had gotten anything when their parents went to the store. Jackson chuckled, pulling the chair up beside of her bed. “Yes, I did. I couldn’t just leave you hanging like that!” He handed her the bowl, tearing them both off a piece of the bread before placing the rest on the table. There was silence as they ate, though it was broken when a loud burp came from Ellie. They both stayed quiet until they locked eyes, then the duo lost it, breaking out in laughter. “Damn, I’m pretty sure you have got me beat there!” Jackson she teased. A light blush came over Ellie’s cheeks as she smirked, shrugging. “So what movie did you bring?” She asked, the excitement in her voice obvious along with the fact she was trying to change the subject. Jackson smirked and stood up, pulling a DVD from the bag, holding a disk in his hand. “An American Werewolf in London.”
