--ELLIE--

“This is private property.” A deep, familiar voice said sternly.

By the sound of the voice, the person was standing about five feet behind her.

“I- I know.” She managed to choke out, shoving her hands in the pockets of her jacket. She was nervous and still unaware of who was standing behind her. Swallowing hard, she continued talking. “I know the family that used to live here, actually. We go back.” She explained.

She heard a chuckle come from the man behind her. “Oh you do?”

Nodding once, she slowly began to turn around. Her eyes landed upon a tall, muscular man who appeared to be in his twenties. Her eyes wandered up his tall frame, soon landing on the familiar face. Now she knew who it was.

“Derek!” She squealed, running over to him and throwing her arms around him.

“I haven’t seen you in years! How’ve ya been?” Ellie questioned, stepping back from him.

Derek chuckled, picking her up and placing her back on her feet before letting her go. “I’ve been…alright, I guess. How about you? What are you doing in Beacon Hills?” He questioned curiously.

After a moment of silence his eyes lit up, his eye brows raising. “You’re here with Jackson, aren’t you?”

A smile appeared on Ellie’s face as she nodded anxiously. “That I am. We are kinda… well we are together, now.”

Derek looked shocked, though it wasn’t as if he were unhappy with her decision. “You two together?” He repeated, shaking his head as he chuckled. “I should have guessed it would happen. I told him when he went over there not to screw it up. Instead, you two fall in love.” He teased.

Ellie laughed, simply shrugging.

She and Derek had met once she had first got turned. They were having a time figuring out why her eyes were blue. Xavier knew Derek from one of his trips to America in his earlier years. He had actually met the whole Hale family before the burning that caused their death. This was about six years later. Derek was twenty and Ellie was sixteen. Xavier had convinced him to come stay a while with them in London. Derek and Ellie grew close like brother and sister since they were both practically orphans. He explained everything to her about taking the life of an innocent and the changing of the color. He helped her understand everything.

“Jackson knows that you’re out here, doesn’t he?” Derek questioned.

Ellie shook her head quickly. “No, I told him I was going to meet Allison. Why?”

Taking in a deep breath to catch a scent, Derek looked to his left as the sound of a limb snapping sounded in the distance. “Then you better get out of here, because that’s him.”

And with those words, Ellie began running in the opposite direction as fast as she could.

--JACKSON—

A few moments after Ellie had left the house, Jackson awoke. Looking around, he noticed that she had left her wallet. Unsure whether or not Ellie had made it to Allison’s yet, Jackson picked up his phone and clicked on Scott’s number, putting the phone up to his ear. Seconds later, Scott’s voice was on the other end.

“What’s going on?” Scott asked, his voice making it obvious that Jackson had just woke him up.

“Uh, I was just wondering if Ellie had made it to Allison’s yet.” Jackson asked, confusion striking him when he heard an also confused Allison in the back.

“Ellie isn’t supposed to be here until nine.” She mumbled into what sounded like a pillow, but what Jackson figured was Scott’s chest.

Hearing her words, Jackson shut the phone off and got up from the bed, pulling on jeans and a sweatshirt before running out the backdoor. Lucky for him, the heightened sense of smell made it easy to follow her tracks.

Within minutes, he was led to the remains of the Hale house. He had no idea why Ellie would come out here seeing that she knew Derek had left town.

As Jackson stood in front of the house, dumbfounded, he felt someone’s hand grab his shoulder. He jumped, his claws coming out as he turned around. To his surprise, Derek Hale stood a foot away from him.

“Derek? What are you doing here?” Jackson questioned, his body now going back to the typical human state.

Derek smirked, his arms crossing over his chest. “What am I doing here? I think I could question the same thing. Aren’t you supposed to be in London?”

Jackson’s eyes narrowed at Derek as he rolled them. “Have you seen Ellie? I followed her scent up here.. I figured she was up here looking for you.”

Derek shook his head, looking down at Jackson. “I haven’t seen her out here. Why did she come in? I’m surprised that you two haven’t killed each other yet.”

Jackson smirked, raising his eyebrow. “We’re together, actually.”

Derek began laughing, as if he didn’t believe Jackson’s words.

“What are you laughing at?” Jackson questioned, pushing Derek by his shoulder. “You better shut up before I kick your ass. I know that I’d be able to now, since you’re a beta now.”

Suddenly, Derek’s laughter stopped and everything was silent. “I didn’t lose my powers to an alpha.” He growled through clinched teeth.

Shaking his head, Jackson turned his back to Derek, walking away before something happened.

--ELLIE--

Two miles away from the Hale house, Ellie slowed her run into a walk. She now had no idea of where she was or how far away she was from Allison’s house. And she couldn’t even call Jackson to ask him.

Letting out a frustrated sigh, Ellie’s fist slammed into a nearby tree, causing the remaining dead leaves to fall off of the tree. Taking in a deep breath, she caught the scent of someone nearby. She began taking off towards the person, relief filling her as she spotted Lindsay, the girl from the ice rink.

“Hey, wait up!” Ellie called out, stopping Lindsay dead in her tracks as she turned around and began searching for whoever was stopping her. Seeing Ellie, a relieved smile came across her face.

When Ellie neared Lindsay she acted as if the run had taken her breath, just so she wouldn’t raise any suspicions. In reality, it had no effect on her.

“Hey!” Lindsay said eagerly as soon as Ellie stopped.

Ellie grinned, waving once. “Hello! What are you doin’ out so early?”

Shrugging lazily, Lindsay shoved her hands into the pocket of her jacket. “Sometimes I like to come out here to think.”

After nodding once, Ellie cleared her throat slightly. “Do ya think maybe I could ask for a favor?” She asked sweetly.

“Yeah, sure, anything for you!” Lindsay replied happily.

Ellie clapped her hands together, looking around their surroundings. “Bless ya! I was wonderin’ if maybe you could lead me to Allison’s house from here.”

Lindsay began laughing, a laugh that sounded quiet sarcastic actually. “Could I lead you to Allison’s house from here?” She mocked under her breath between her laughs. The laughter faded after a moment and Lindsay composed herself. “Of course I can.”

“Or I could.” A deep voice said from behind her.

She didn’t have to look to know who it was.
