Day 3- Get New Perfume
Today was Monday. After a very successful weekend of buying make-up and getting my new hair, I was ready.
My make-up was perfectly blended on my skin when I put it on. It was like it was made for me. I absolutely loved the way it matched my face and hair.
I walked out of my bathroom and into the kitchen, where my mom and dad were talking. I was glad to see my dad was back and his overnight stay was cut short. I was also glad to see that my parents were having a normal conversation with a smile on their face.
"New hair?" My dad asked, raising an eyebrow.
I nodded and spun around for him to see. He smiled even wider. "It looks great. New make-up, too?"
"Yes," I replied, joining them at the table. "I really tried my hardest with it this morning. I think I did a good job on my eyeliner and my eyeshadow is gorgeous. What do you think, Mom?"
My mom smiled. "It looks absolutely gorgeous on you. You look much older and more mature." She got up, sighing. "I made some waffles for your dad and I. Do you want some?"
I nodded and shifted in my seat, looking on my phone. I went to the account for my grade and looked at all the bashing and praising.
thetenth: Everyone is loving McKenna Jone's new hair. Thoughts from people who haven't?
oopsara: TBH it's really pretty! It changes the way she looks entirely and she rocks it!
tttayyyahhh: Look at my gorgeous BFF go!!!
I smiled at all the comments and praise. My waffle finished cooking and was slid down on the plate in front of me.
I needed to talk to my parents about getting new perfume and getting a gym membership to work out.
"Okay, I have a little question," I mumbled, playing with my food.
My dad looked up from his newspaper and raised an eyebrow. "And? That is? If it's buying you something else, it's a no."
Great. How was I supposed to get a gym membership and new perfume, when I can't even get one of those things? I rolled my eyes and took another bite of my waffle. "I ran out of perfume this morning, so I need that."
My mom nodded. "That's understandable. Just use some of mine."
"No, Mom!" I laughed. "Yours smells like old lady. I'm not wearing that!"
My dad rolled his eyes now. "Then, McKenna, all I can say is make sure you wash up well. We aren't buying you anything more. The amount we spent on you at Sephora was way too much. No more."
All I had to do was bribe David with $50 to drive me, and use my other $50 to buy new perfume. My problem was this gym membership. I want to be healthy, I want to be in shape! Maybe if I told my parents that, they would understand.
"I also wanted a gym membership. I'm tired of looking like I ate a beluga whale. I want to feel healthy and confident. But, I guess I'm going to be stuck as a beluga whale forever."
I could feel a tear come down from my eye. I didn't realize how much that meant to me until now. I wiped my tear and saw my dad glance at my mom. When they know they should get me something and don't want to do it, they always give each other that glance.
"Well, McKenna, I think it's safe to say that we are both glad you want to start taking care of yourself more. However, we want you to earn it."
Oh.
