Day 54- Buy new clothes
I had to wear sweats to school today and an extremely baggy shirt. Seven weeks ago, this would have fit me to a tee. Now, it was so big on me, I couldn't tell where my actually body was.
I needed to get to the mall to buy myself new clothes. The only trouble was, like usual, was getting there. I had some money, a lot of gift cards, and no clothes that fit me. Maybe if I told my mom that she would take me.
Everyone complimented me on my body today. Stuart, the guy who I kind of like now, whistled at me, and talked to me for a while during lunch. He bought me ice cream from the snack bar which I politely accepted. I earned it, anyways.
The Populars kept eyeing me and whispering about me. All I thought was, If you got it, flaunt it. I had a lot to show off. I was proud of myself.
After lunch, Tayah kept telling me about all the people talking about me. I just smiled to myself as I walked down the hallway. Someone threw a paper airplane at me with a note inside. It said: Are you really the Food Slut now?
Now, I'm home. I threw out all of my clothes so I could donate them. I'm sure my mom would love that I wanted to donate clothes, but also get mad that I was getting rid of so many.
I patiently waited for her on my front steps in the chilly air. My winter coat was wrapped around me tightly and I had a cute hat on. I saw her white car pull into the driveway. She beeped at me and I jumped up, running over to her.
"Mom, we have a major issue," I said, latching onto her arm. She was barely out of the car yet. I knew she hated when I did this. "None of my clothes fit me. None! Can we maybe, possibly, PLEASE go shopping?"
My mom laughed and pinched the bridge of her nose. That usually meant she didn't want to take me, but knew she had to. "Okay, okay," she said. "We can go now. I'm not buying you a lot though, maybe fifteen outfits and that's it. I can let you get some new sweatshirts and other shirts, too."
Fifteen outfits is not going to replace an entire closet, at all. I groaned again and latched onto her arm. "I have a whole closet to replace! I have literally 500 bucks to Forever 21, 150 for American Eagle, and 100 to Aero! And don't forget, I have about $700 total in cash!"
My mom laughed, sighing. I had over a thousand bucks to spend on new clothes. How could she say no to that? We were also rich, so it wasn't like we were low on money. Couldn't she just take me to buy some new-effing-clothes?
"Fine, I guess. But we can't stay long, you have homework and you have to go to the gym. If you want to stay in shape, you have to work out every day now on."
"Deal." I smiled and hopped into her car, the seat feeling warm on my skin. The car made me want to learn how to drive.
"Mom, I'm sixteen," I blurted out as we pulled out of the driveway. Technically, I turned sixteen about a day before school began, but I didn't really celebrate it because we had nobody to celebrate with. "When can I learn how to drive, like you promised?"
My mom sighed. "I told you, when things settle down everywhere, one afternoon I'll take you. I know you want to learn, but you gotta be patient."
I nodded and looked out the window. That was not the response I really wanted to hear. Driving would be really cool to do. I could have my own car, and everyone would think I'm cooler than they think I am now. That would guarantee popularity.
After a couple of minutes, we arrived at an American Eagle. I hopped out of the car and walked into the store, extremely excited.
After shopping for a while and looking around the store for a little while, I finally settled in on ten outfits. They were cute and I knew that they would make a statement. This was me. This was the new me.
I made sure to write down everything I bought, so I could organize it into a list. Strange, I know, but it'd make me organized.
I picked out some nice outfits from all the stores I went into. In the end, I had 31 outfits picked out. Some were sweats, some were sweaters. In the end, it didn't matter what I bought, as long as it was comfortable and affordable.
I walked out of the last store, Forever 21, and bumped into a strange face. It was Bella's cousin, who moved here two years ago. I remember she used to try to take her away from me, but one day, I confronted her and told her that she was actually bullying me. She got mad at me.
"McKenna!" She said in an overly cheerful voice. I could smell the fake. She was always so rude and fake to me, it was unbelievable. She gave me a hug and patted my back. "How are you? I haven't seen you since, well, two years ago? How's my favorite cousin Bells, even though you haven't seen her since, let's see, summer?"
I glared at her, staring right into her eyes. "Oh yeah, definitely. Thanks for rubbing it in. When you moved, everything was great! But now I'm here again, with you, and I don't want to. I thought I'd never see you again! You still haven't apologized for what you've done to me." I was going all over with my rant, but I didn't care.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," she apologized, sarcastically.
"Wow, so sincere," I muttered under my breath.
"What did you say, BFF?" She batted her eyelashes and flicked her hair.
"Okay, you know what, Claudia? I don't like bullies. I never try to bully. But what you have done to me makes me want to punch you in the face."
"Did you get skinnier?" Claudia asked, gaping at me. She changed the subject, on purpose, so I wouldn't have to talk about her trying to take away Bella from me.
"Yes, I did, woop-dee-doo. Now answer my question, please." I looked at her, but I saw no sign of pity.
"Oh well! I'll see you around!" She did he signature flick and walked away. My mom, who was talking on the phone, walked over to me and groaned.
"Was that that Claudia girl who wedged her way between you and Bella? I'll never forgive her for that." Here was one fact about my mom: She hated Claudia with a burning passion.
"Oh yeah, that was her. She dyed her hair, didn't she? She looked a little different, but she still had that same, snobby attitude." My mom rubbed my back, knowing that I was upset.
"Like I said McKenna, just be nice to people and people will like you back."
Most of the time, that didn't work. However, if I became popular, maybe Claudia would like me.
Pros of The Popular Plan.
"Yeah, I know. One day this little feud between us will be settled. Let's just go to the gym."
And with that, we were off, finishing the day like I normally would, but with way cuter clothes.
