Our walk to the garden was peaceful. The occasional cool wind that blew past us was relaxing and refreshing as it was quite stuffy in the halls. We walk into a cave that has a hole that the sunlight beams through, lighting up the whole cave and water falling down into the cave and crashing down on the sparkling lake below.
"How long has it been now?" Thranduil asks as we sit down on the edge of a rock, dangling our feet over the water. "I think it has been since the First Age, am I right?"
"I think it has, it's been so long, I forgot what you looked like and I was used to hearing 'Prince' Thranduil and not King." I respond.
"You have changed Miriel" Thranduil states.
"Really? How so"
"You don't have that fiery spirit that you used to have when you lived in Greenwood, well now Mirkwood."
"Well a lot changes you when both parents die and you become queen that same day" I say coldly.
"I'm sorry for brining that up. Do you remember the first time we met, when you and your mother first came to our Kingdom?" He changes the subject.
"Of course, I refused to talk to you, no matter what our parents told us and I hid from you until you offered me to go to the training fields with you" I recall, smiling at the memory.
"Or that time when we were running in the forest, climbing trees and then we fell into a lake" He says, chuckling.
"Oh, what about that time I caught you running out of the bathing chambers naked as I was walking in and your father was chasing you, shouting at you" I say to him, laughing.
"It was because he was trying to wash and braid my hair" he whined like a child.
"Well I see you still don't like to braid your hair." I say, looking at his hair. "I hope you wash it though, otherwise you should be ashamed to call yourself an elf"
"For your information, I am an elf and I do wash my own hair" he says, defending his hair and cradling it like a baby.
"Sure you do, If I remember correctly, you said washing hair was for girls only, so I guess you have turned into an elleth now?"
"What! No! I never said that and I am clearly an ellon"
"Keep believing that, Thranduil"
"I will, do you remember what I told you that day before you left back to your kingdom?" he asks.
"Yes, I do" I say, scared on what his next words are.
"Well I still do"
"And?"
"I still lo-" He was cut off when Sadron came running down to us.
"My queen, my king! The spies from Dol Guldur have returned, they have some ill news" Sadron rushed out.
Thranduil and I looked at each other with worry and we both got off the bench, quickly walking back to the halls. We reach the throne room and I walk up to my throne while Thranduil stands next to me. The spies stand below us and tell us the problem.
"Your majesty, there is some darkness growing in Dol Guldur" said the first spy.
"We ran into Radagast the brown, he was just leaving Dol Guldur. He told us he just left Gandalf because Gandalf and the white council decided to take a look at the abandoned place, though I don't think it is abandoned anymore." Said the second.
"Radagast told us he got into a fight with a ghost before he met Gandalf and found a morgul blade, it is not from the living." Explained the third.
Thranduil and I look at each other and then look at the 3 spies before us.
"Thank you, you may take your leave and await your next orders from Kellorin." I dismiss them.
They bow and leave the throne room.
"Sadron, you may also leave, I have to discuss something with Thranduil." I tell my assistant.
He leaves and Thranduil walks in front of me.
"I had a company of dwarves pass into my kingdom, more specifically, the company of Thorin Oakenshield. They came to reclaim their homeland. I caught them in my dungeons but they escaped the next day. The Halfling in their company stole the keys from my guards and I have no idea how." Thranduil explains to me.
"I am guessing Gandalf was the one to initiate this group of dwarves to reclaim their homeland. But they do realise there is a dragon there, and may I add, a large dragon that can burn a town to pieces in minutes."
"Stupid meddling wizards." Thranduil exclaims.
"It is getting late, I am going to retire for the night. I will see you tomorrow Thranduil." I say to him.
"Goodnight Miriel and I will see you tomorrow" Thranduil says.
I walk to my room and the doors open for me. I walk to the bathroom, take a quick bath and then go to my bed where I lay, looking up at the roof off my bed that are paintings of the stars with the moon in the middle. I think about today and the talk I had with Thranduil. He was going to say something to me, but what was it? I fall asleep, still thinking of what Thranduil was going to say.
