After sooooo long, I have finally finished this story. There were times where I did give up on it but then I decided to finally finish it. So thanks to everyone who read this story, voted and commented. Enjoy the final chapter! :)

"It has been many years since Sauron has left these lands" I say, overlooking the garden of Mirkwood.

"Yes" Thranduil answers.

"The time of elves is over"

"And the time of men is beginning" He continues.

"The west has continued to call me and it's getting harder to ignore" I turn to Thranduil.

"Then why not sail?" He asks, looking confused.

"Because I don't want to leave you behind and my kingdom" I look down at my hands. "It gets harder to choose"

"I will sail with you"

"But what about Legolas? And Mirkwood?" I look up at him.

"Legolas is more than capable of looking after the kingdom. He will be a great king, greater than me perhaps. I have ruled over Mirkwood for many, many years now and I feel as though my time ruling is coming to an end." He walks up to me and holds my face in his hands. "Wherever you go, I will follow"

"Thranduil, you don't have to though" He silences me and takes hold of my hand.

"Remember my promise, I will be by your side and protect you until the day I die"

"But what about my kingdom?"

"Legolas will think of something. I'll give him some advice to lead him to the right path"

"Thank you Thranduil. For everything" I lean against his chest.

"You are very welcome my love" He wraps his arms around me and pulls me even closer.

A week after deciding to head west, Thranduil stepped down from the throne and Legolas was crowned king. I handed the throne over to Kellorin, who I trusted the most and both him and Legolas both made a deal to look after both kingdoms and to aid one another in the future if needed.

"Your mother would be very proud of you my son" Thranduil says to Legolas as we stand at the docks near the boat. "You make a great king and I hope to see you again soon. Preferably when you are married and have my grandchildren."

They both share a laugh and I smile at the both of them. I turn to Kellorin to avoid listening into their conversation. "I trust you would take great care of my kingdom"

"You have my word, I will protect the people until the day I die" he puts his hand over his heart. "I wish you well Miriel in you travels"

"Thank you Kellorin. I hope that one day we will cross paths again" He bows at me and steps back as Legolas comes over.

"Thank you for everything" He smiles.

"There is nothing to thank me for Legolas" I say, slightly confused.

"But there is, I thank you for making father happy again and for welcoming me and my friends with open arms"

"Well then, you are very welcome Legolas. I hope to see you next time with a wife and children" I smirk as he goes red.

"I don't think that will happen for a while"

"We shall see about that. We must get going now before the boat leaves without us" I pull him in for a hug.

"Look after father for me" he chuckles.

"Oh don't worry, I will" I grin as we pull away.

"I don't need anyone to look after me. I can look after myself perfectly fine" Thranduil says out of nowhere, putting an arm around my shoulder. Legolas and I roll our eyes.

We say our final goodbyes and board the boat, waving at Legolas and Kellorin until we could no longer seen them. I turn to Thranduil. "You know, I used to always think that I would be forever alone."

"Well look at you now my love. You are no longer forever alone." He leans down until our lips are almost touching. "You are forever together with me"

I smile as he closes the small gap between us. I am no longer forever alone.
