The next morning, I was awoken to someone shaking me awake. I open my eyes to see a blurry figure above me. This startles me and I jolt up, reaching for the dagger I have under my pillow.

"Woah! Miriel, calm down, it's only me, Thranduil" The blurred figure says.

I blink my eyes a few times to see clearly and I see Thranduil looking down at the dagger at his neck. I release him and put my dagger away.

"What on earth are you doing in my bed chambers Thranduil?" I ask him, sitting up against the head board.

"I came to wake you, what does it look like?" he asks, sitting next to me on the bed, legs hanging off the edge.

"I almost killed you, so did you wake me up because of something urgent?"

"Yes" he answered simply. I nod and wait for him to go on. "Well I woke you because it is urgent that I need breakfast. And before you say 'why don't you eat by yourself' I wanted to eat with you so get up and hurry."

I sigh and get up off the bed. I go to my closet and pick a dress that is the colour of his robes he's wearing now, black. I go to the bathroom and wash up before slipping on the dress. Walking out of the bathroom to fix my hair, I look to my bed to see Thranduil stretched out on my bed. His legs reach the end of my bed and his head is resting against the head board. His arms are spread across the bed that reaches the ends.

"You're as big as my bed Thranduil" I say to him.

He opens one eye and smirks, "Your bed is just small, my bed is way bigger than this."

"Well I'm sorry I am a small person" I say back. I go to sit in front of my mirror to fix my hair but I am stopped by another of pair of hands. I see the reflection to Thranduil trying to fix my hair. I sit and watch as he concentrates on my hair.

After a while, he finishes and he smiles at his work. "Thank you Thranduil"

"No problem, now hurry up, I am starving." He rushed, grabbing my hand and our crowns and pulling me to the dining hall.

Sitting at the table, our breakfast is served and Thranduil goes straight to serve me and then himself. We begin to eat and I'm not even halfway finished when Thranduil goes for his second serving.

"Thranduil, you are like a child, do you always eat like this or just in private?" I ask, containing my laugher as he looks up to me with a stuffed face.

"I am very hungry and I don't get to eat in private much" he says with food still in his mouth.

"You are very king like, talking with your mouthful, I am ashamed of you Thranduil!" I tease.

"Well too bad, when in private, I am no king, only a child that likes his food!" He says, pouting.

"Well then that means no wine for you if you're a child." I tease him more, taking away his wine and drinking it.

"Hey! That's mine, you can't do that, I am older than you! Listen to your elders!" He whines.

"Oh, so now you're an elder? I thought you were a child? Make up your mind" I laugh.

"Just shut up Miriel and give me back my wine please!" He complains.

I give it back to him and he drinks from it straight away before putting down. We finish our breakfast and leave to the library. We walk around, looking for books and we sit down next to each other on the couch. I don't know how long we read for but the next thing I know, Kellorin, my captain of the guard runs into the room.

"My Queen! My King! We are under attack! Orcs have managed to sneak under the guards noses!" He rushes out.

"Gather our men quickly, how many are there?" I order.

"About 500 from what the watchtower guards told me" he told us.

"Send out the archers on the wall and ready the swords men, I will be out with Thranduil in a bit but make sure you are all ready when we come!" I command.

He bows and runs out the door. I turn to Thranduil and we both run out the door to armour up. I put on my armour (Picture on top) and grab my weapons. I carry my quiver full of arrows and my bow, a pair of twin swords and a few daggers. I walk out of my room and see Thranduil in his armour waiting outside. I greet him and he smiles before grabbing my hand and leading me out to the army.

Walking out into the open, my men are gathered and are awaiting orders. Kellorin stands in front of them holding the reigns of my horse and Thranduil's elk. I thank him and lift myself onto my jet black horse, Thranduil doing the same on his elk. We ride through the army to meet up with the orcs. I unsheathe my twin swords and get them ready. I see Thranduil from the corner of my eye unsheathing his sword as well.

I raise my sword in the air and my archers on the wall fire a rain of arrows. I look back at my army and they raise their weapons. I look at Thranduil and nod to him. He nods back and he charge into battle. My army follow right behind and we clash into the army of orcs. I slash left and right, killing any orc in my way.

In the midst of the battle, I lose sight of Thranduil but I know he would be okay because he is the best sword fighter in Middle Earth. I see an orc on a warg attempting to kill one of my soldiers but I whip out my bow and arrow and kill the orc. I unsheathe my swords again and kill the orc but in doing that, I get thrown off my horse. I groan and turn to see another warg and orc heading towards me.

I get up off the ground and feel a warm liquid falling down my arm. I look to my left to see that I got shot with an arrow. I rip it out and bite back a scream. I throw it to the ground and go to kill the orc and warg. Being slightly slower than before, I manage to kill the warg but leaving the orc alive. It shows its disgusting teeth at me and closes the gap between us. He grabs me by the neck and stabs me in the stomach. I cream in pain and the orc smiles at me before throwing me to the ground, making me hit my head hard and losing consciousness.

Thranduil's POV

I look around, the battle is finally over, not many elves were lost but there is one elf I am looking for. I look frantically around and see a black horse dead on the ground. That makes my fear worse as that was Miriel's horse. I find Kellorin ordering his men to find the dead elves.

"You! Captain! Have you seen Miriel?" I ask him.

He looks towards me, "No I haven't, why?"

"I can't find her" I tell him.

His face changes to fear as he orders his men to look for the queen. A soldier found her and call out to us. Kellorin and I rush towards him and we see Miriel lying unconscious on the ground, blood flowing out of her left arm and her stomach. I kneel next to her and feel for her pulse.

"Miriel? Please wake up!" I shake her gentle but she didn't respond.

"My lord, we need to get her to the healers now!" Kellorin tells me.

I nod and pick her up gently before following the captain to the healers. Reaching the healers, they see the queen in my arms and they begin to panic. They rush around the room preparing everything and telling me to lay her down on the bed.

"My lord, Captain, you must leave, we will tell you how she is later but for now, we need to do this without distractions!" The head healer ushered us out.

The captain and I sat next to the room for the next day in worry. I think morning has risen and I am woken by the head healer.

"My lord"

"How is she?" I ask, hoping for good news.
