Hey sorry this update took a while but here it is. I think this may be the second last chapter. Not sure if I should make a couple after this. You should listen to this song while reading. Enjoy:) The song is Broken Pieces by 5 Seconds of Summer. This chapter isn't as long as the song but I was listening to this song while typing this up :)
"Father is inside. He is sitting at the table drinking wine, like he always does" Legolas tells me.
"He never moves?" I ask.
"No" we stop at the doors. "Are you ready?"
"As ready as I'll ever be" I take a deep breath as the doors open.
"I now announce Queen Miriel of Menel" One of the guards says out loud.
All heads turn to me and I walk through, with Legolas by my side. I look around and capture the eyes of Thranduil who was already staring at me. He looks at me with surprise and I give him a small smile. He stands up and all heads turn to him. He starts walking towards me, never looking away from me.
I feel Legolas' hand on my shoulder for a second before it leaves and in the corner of my eye, I see him walk off to Tauriel. My legs have a sudden mind of its own and I begin walking towards Thranduil.
Before I knew it, I was standing right in front of him, looking up.
"Miriel" He breathes out. "You're here?"
I give him a smile. He takes my hand, lifting it up and kissing it. He puts it down but doesn't let go. He then takes my hand and pulls me out of the room, towards the balcony. I suddenly realise that the entire hall was silent until we left when everyone began talking again.
He leans on the balcony rail and turns to me. "I am sorry Miriel. For everything. I should have told you sooner. I regret my decision to keep the secret from you"
"Thranduil" I say, moving my hand to his cheek. He leans into my touch. "I have forgiven you, ever since your son came back from his long journey to destroy the ring"
"How did you know?" He looks surprised once again.
"He came by with his dwarf friend before going home" I told him.
"He did?"
"Yes, and he suggested I come for your birthday. I have been here since yesterday"
"You don't know how much this means to me"
"I have missed you so much" I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him in for a hug. He tenses for a second before wrapping his own arms around my waist.
"60 years away from you is way too long for me" He leans back a bit to look at my face. "What can I do to make it up to you?"
"It will take me a while to fully trust you but how about we sort that out later. Right now, it's your birthday and you should enjoy it" I unwrap my arms from his neck and step back. "Let's get back to the party"
"Miriel wait" He grabs my hand and pulls me towards him. As soon as I face him, his lips crashes down onto mine. I freeze for a second before kissing back. He moves me over to the rail and leans me back against it. He deepens the kiss, threading one hand through the ends of my hair and the other holding me around my waist. He then breaks the kiss and leans his forehead against mine.
"As long as you're with me, I can wait forever for you" He whispers.
"Thank you" He grabs my hand and pulls me back towards the party.
