The starting sound of the violin from the band playing above the staircase marked the beginning of the masquerade ball. Hundreds of fancy-dressed people were overflowing the ballroom, and there were still more to come. The busy ballroom was filled with a beautiful melody as they talk and enjoy the ball.

Being the important host himself, Baekhyun was dressed nicely in his black tuxedo, his hair styled and sprayed so it won't be ruined by whatever that was gonna happen.

He stood near the front door, the tall door that once welcomed his maid, Ivy, into the mansion. The maid that he met not for long, but already made a change to his heart.

His face plastered with a decent smile and his hands shaking every hand that offered theirs, and so Baekhyun was starting to get irritated by the number of guests coming into the place.

"Seriously. Talk about international invitations. This is sup-perbbbb. " He murmured to himself like an old man as he watched his butlers welcoming the guests beside him as well.

After a few minutes, he finally whispered to the butler beside him and escaped from the front door, making his way to the corner of the ballroom. He wore a mask, of course, navy  blue with feathers attached to one of the edges. Baekhyun squeezed himself through the crowd, sometimes glancing at these weird guests wearing- well, obviously weird- masks.

"Excuse me ladies and gentleman." Baekhyun paused in his tracks when he heard Taehyung's voice through the microphone, before catching a glimpse of his figure on the top of the staircase. He held a piece of paper and was plastering a good smile to the guests.

He let out a small snort enough for him to hear. Looking at him made Baekhyun remember something from the past.

What a fake guy you are, Kim Taehyung.

"I am sure you all are having a nice evening here in the Byun family's masquerade ball." He continued with a smile. "Now, we would like to invite all of you to a dance to enlighten the evening! Feel free to find a partner and let the ball start!"

His words ended with a thunderous applause as the guests started to find their partner. Baekhyun rolled his eyes, quickly walking his way so that the girls won't see him. Or they'll come chasing. No, he meant it. Rich girls really know how to chase people. Kinda freaks him out.

He mumbled to myself as he walked towards the door leading away from the ballroom, so that he can finally find peace or something.

A few guests walked passed him, and he was pretty grateful when they didn't recognized him. Thank you masquerade ball.

"Master."

Baekhyun stopped in his tracks, figuring out who was calling him and turned around, only to see- Kim Taehyung standing behind him. How did he even find me? Baekhyun thought. Just a glance of the man made Baekhyun feel pissed, but he tried not to show it. Baekhyun would have fired him if his dad didn't put so much trust in him.

"What?"

"It's the formal dance, master. Why don't you join them for a dance?"

Beekhyun snorted. "Do I look like I want a dance? No, thanks." he replied and turned around, walking away.

Taehyung managed to stop him. "But you should be at the ball, just in case anything happens."

"Listen," Baekhyun said. "Your job is to host the ball and as far as I am concern, nothing is gonna happen. So just get back there and do your job."
