Charlie's POV
I woke early the next morning for a shift. Whippet was meeting me at my house at twelve and we were going to get the boxes to the Salvation Army and I was going to see if he would help me buy a surfboard. I'd been saving money for quite a while so I had enough to get a decent board. I didn't have anyone stay with me last night like I was told to but I was fine.
I got dressed and went through my morning routine and walked to the tower. I walked through the door and saw Harries and Kerrbox. I opened the shutters in the tower and when I opened the last one, I was greeted with a silly face from Harries. I laughed and made a stupid face back at him. He walked out of the tower and down the steps. I followed him and walked into the garage.
"Charlie, get the Rhino out of the garage so we can set up the beach," Harries stated. I nodded and started driving it out with Harries guiding me but then a spider fell on the hood of the Rhino. I stomped on the break and leaped out of the Rhino.
"What's wrong?" Harries asked.
"Spider," I replied, pointing to the hood of the Rhino. Harries grabbed a bucket and scooped the spider up, throwing it away. I got back into the Rhino and drove it out. Harries got into the passenger seat and we drove to South end and began setting up for the day. We slowly made our way to the North end and before retreating to the tower.
"I heard about yesterday. Are you ok?" Harries asked.
"I'm fine, Harries. I just saw the bite and freaked out," I smiled. Harries wrapped an amazing arm around my shoulders and chuckled.
"Charlie, if it was anyone else, they wouldn't be coming into work this morning," Harries smiled. I just laughed and walked up to the tower.
"Charlie, you're in the tower today," Kerrbox stated.
"I have a question. Was I originally rostered in the tower or am I somewhere else?" I asked.
"Hoppo and I thought that today we'd put you in the tower instead of the North end after what you went through yesterday," Kerrbox stated.
"Kerrbox, I promise you I'm fine. I'll patrol the North end," I smiled.
"Ok. I was surprised you were coming in today," Kerrbox chuckled. I just smiled and grabbed my water bottle from the desk.
"I'm a lot tougher and stronger than anyone thinks I am. Yeah I was freaked out but a bite in a surfboard isn't going to scare me away from work," I laughed.
"I think half the time you pretend to be tougher than you are," Harries stated.
"Maybe but I get the job done and I don't let shit phase me," I replied. Kerrbox shook his head and looked at Harries and I.
"You're both right. Half the time you pretend to be tough and we don't give you enough credit for how tough you really are. You're a strong girl, Charlie and I don't think you realise it sometimes. Over the past few days and from what I've heard, you put on a face during you're weaker moments," Kerrbox explained.
"I'm heading down to the North end," I laughed leaving the tower.
"Take the quad bike!" Kerrbox yelled after me. I ran into the garage and got the quad bike, speeding down to the North end. People slowly began to flock Bondi and at the North end, it wasn't overly busy. This was usually the safest place on the beach. The day went slow and I soon finished my shift, Jake taking over from me. I went home and showered. I pulled on a white, lacy crop top and denim overalls before braiding my dark hair. I pulled on a pair of converse.
I decided to push all the boxes out of my Nana's old room so I could vacuum. I began to push all the boxes out of the room and into the kitchen when there was a knock on the door.
