Angela's POV

The crazy chicken guy left after about ten minutes passed, and I was stationed at the plaza, chatting with Donna and her husband Logan. They were nice people, respectable too.The rest of the guard was stationed around the village.I think Laurance was stationed at the docks, watching over a ship that had approached Phoenix Drop a few days ago.I didn't know much about who was on the ship, all I knew it was someone from the Jury of Nine and they had questioned Aphmau before they went back on their ship.

However when I saw Brian running towards Aphmau's home, and Laurance running towards the gate,I told Donna a quick goodbye before I ran towards the gates,Aphmau following Dante now.Brian was a fast runner. That was for sure.At the gate, stood the High Priest Zane and another Lord.A lord I didn't recognize either. He seemed to be in his late fifties, since his hair was a shade of grey.

He was angry. That was obvious, but he was mistaken.I could hear him shouting about how he had lost his daughter the previous month and he had found out that she was here.Nicole.That was his daughter.I hadn't met her quite yet,but I did say a few words to her once while I was on duty.

He seemed to be shouting at Lord Aphmau, demanding that she returned his daughter to her.Aphmau didn't oblige but,it seemed like he was treating her of lower ranking.Like as if she were a civilian, who had done wrong.Even though they were of equal status. My gaze shifted away from the demanding lord and over to a male with black hair. The high priest Zane.

He looked ever so familiar.Like I had seen him before in my old village of Hetra, that had fallen. It was as big as Scaleswind, but yet it had fallen and burned to ashes by some sort of source that was unknown to me.Laurance tapped my shoulder and I realized we were done here. But then Aphmau began to speak to Zane after the lord had left.

I remember her begging him to do something, but he refused to help her with this, even though apparently it seemed to be his fault, and I wouldn't doubt that it was.He was a disgusting man.People praised him and the ground he walked on,while I would much rather knock some sense into him, since some of the things he did would consider him a mad man.

Garroth seemed to however begin to drift into my thoughts, along with Dante and Laurance. They were family to me in a way now, even though I had only known them for a small amount of time. They were my brothers and if something or someone made an attempt to hurt them,I wouldn't hesitate to try to return the favor.

However it seemed like Garroth was more stressed out than anyone.Like he was holding back something big and was being held back by invisible restraints.

Which was rather odd.

Aphmau said a few more things to Zane before we headed back to the village in silence.War was a strong possibility if we couldn't find Nicole.Us guards went to separate guard towers to keep eyes on what was going on outside of our walls.

But before Garroth could run off to one of the towers,I pulled him over to the side.He seemed confused as I tugged him over into the small forest near one of the towers."Garroth.There's something all of you aren't telling me and I need answers. Now is not a time to be confused."I spoke in a stern tone.

However the look on his face showed he was conflicted over to the fact as to wether or not if he should tell me what's going on."Angela.Before I say this,I trust you not to say this to anyone in the village and that I do not fight with Zane.I fight against him. But,he is my brother and he has cursed one of our children in the village and he has
caused many other issues here."He locked eyes with me as he spoke.

I took off my helm and dropped it on the grass as I blinked at him going quiet for a moment."How is a protective, loving and kind guard like you, brothers with that monster who is cruel and horrid towards anything that lives?"I asked and he then proceeded to tell me part of his past.

I sighed gently but before both of us could say anything else,Laurance appeared and told us that we needed to report to the plaza now.

Nodding my head at Laurance,I picked up my helm and slipped it back on before Garroth and I,along with Laurance make a small dash over to the plaza.

There,we stood along side Aphmau as she made an announcement to the village, concerning the fact that Nicole needed to be found or we would have to deal with a war.

A war.

The idea terrified me and I could tell others were too, afraid as to what was to come in the future.
