These Hidden Burns

~ C h a p t e r 20 ~

~ A n g e l a 's POV ~

I awoke to loud sounds,after having a horrible nightmare.I shot up from where I was laying,but instantly regretted that decision.

Pain hit me in waves and I couldn't help but groan as I slowly laid back down.My eyes flickered over the familiar room.I was in my house...in Hetra.The sudden sound of thunder startled me and I shifted my gaze over towards a window.A storm was roaring outside,lightening crackling and shooting across the dark sky,thunder rumbling and roaring while harsh rain fell from the sky
But while watching the lightning streak across the sky,the memories of what seemed to be the previous day hit me hard.Zane.Laurence.Aphmau...

I couldn't think too clearly and closed my eyes and lowly sighed while another roll of thunder came from outside.I'm not quite sure if it was a coincidence or not,but the moment I opened my eyes again,the door swung open.

And there he stood.His blonde hair was wet and was sticking to his head a bit.He wore simple clothes,but I knew he had put his armor away somewhere.His blue eyes were on me before I managed to utter a single word."Look at who finally decided to wake up.",he said,chuckling lowly.Honestly,he was like my own knight in shining armor.

God...what was I thinking?I needed to get it together.

"How long have I been out?Is Laurence ok?Is Aphmau ok?Where's Zane?Is-",He cut me off before I could finish asking all of the questions I had."Shhh..everyone's fine Angela.Zane is locked away behind bars,where he belongs.Laurence has been adjusting to everything and will more than likely be over here tomorrow morning,exploding with questions for you.You've been out for two days.Katelyn is currently heading back to Phoenix Drop,to check on everyone and such,since we've been gone for a little over a week.",Garroth said in a soft voice as he slipped a few fingers through his wet hair while closing the door.

After doing that,he walked over to me,sitting next to me on the bed.I sighed and he chuckled."Don't worry about us,Angela.Right now,you need to go worry about yourself.",Garroth said while sliding a hand onto my lower back,I said nothing as I moved his hand away,sitting up and placing my hand on the back of my neck carefully.I could feel the stitches on the back of my neck,and going onto my upper back a bit.

I could feel the bed shift while Garroth leaned over.And I felt something brush along the back of my neck.Something soft,which I could only recognize to be his lips.I could already feel the heat rising to my face in an instant,and I heard him lowly chuckle as he then carefully laid me back down.

"So...you have magicks?",asked Garroth and I hesitantly nodded my head while I reached out carefully,fixing his wet hair with my fingers."Interesting.", He said simply while he the shook his head a bit,a few droplets of water hitting my face.I grimaced and he laughed.

"Mean.",I said while shooting a playful glare at him."Anyhow...I do believe I need to go see Aphmau and the others.",I slowly began to sit up,wincing and quietly groaning before Garroth forced me to lay back down.

"Not so fast,you need rest if anything.",He said and I shot a look at him."But-",I began,but Garroth had already cut me off again.

" 'But',nothing.We'll all make sure everything is alright.Don't worry.",Garroth seemingly shushed my worries for a moment or two.Thunder roared outside.
"Can you do me two favors then,Garroth?",I asked and he hesitantly nodded his head.

"For one,make sure Liza is taking care of.

And two,stay with me."

~ G a r r o t h ' s  POV ~

"Alright.I will.",I said,trying my best to sound calm and collected.But I could already feel heat rising to my cheeks.She too,was blushing.Her cheeks were a shade of light pink,but it made her look cute.

A little more innocent than the fighter she really was.Her thin fingers brushed along my cheek,then my jaw.

"How are you taking things?"

"What do you mean,Angela?"

"I mean how well are you accepting everything after the whole Irene incident and such."

"Well...I guess you could say I'm handling things decently.I haven't panicked or flipped out about anything too much.",I said and she simply nodded her head in understanding.

"May I ask about Zane?As in,what you plan to do with him.",I asked and she pursed her lips for a moment.

"Once I'm capable of standing straight and walking without wincing too much,he will be killed for his many crimes against multiple villages.For one,killing an entire village,cursing villagers,kidnapping you all and taking you all to the Irene Dimension....and for the many other things he has done,that we are unaware of.",She said and then sighed.

"Ah,alright.",I said and then reached out and fixed her hair.She made a face and I chuckled a bit before I leaned over lightly kissed her forehead.

"Get some sleep now...it'll be morning in a few hours anyways.",I murmured to her and she shot a playful glare at me.

"So you're telling me when to go to be now?Will I have a bedtime now?",She asked playfully and I couldn't help but laugh a bit.She joined in as well.

"Yes.You have a curfew now.",I said and she shot another playful glare at me.
"So mean.",Angela said before she then turned on her side,carefully though.

She fell asleep about half an hour later and I suppose I soon followed,since I don't remember anything after an hour passed.

I suppose for once,we both felt safe enough to laugh and such.

Despite the fact that danger was always at our front door.
