Healing

Rei tugged the dagger out of her stomach, yelling out. Kanan and Ezra ran forward, Ezra heading for Indigo, Kanan for Rei. Ezra kneeled by Indigo's disregarded corpse, tears escaping his eyes for the first time in a while. He cradled her head in his lap as he sobbed.
"Why'd you have to leave us?" He whispered. Meanwhile, Kanan was holding Rei to the ground, where she was struggling to get up. She shoved his hand away, growling. Her eyes were still dark. Kanan's eyes widened and he stepped back.
"Calm down Rei." He put his hands up as a sign of surrender. She glared at him, her eyes flickering. "Rei." He said sternly. Suddenly, the darkness seeped out of her system, leaving Rei to slump to the ground, again.
"What in the Kriffing..." Rei groaned as she instinctively placed her hand on her stomach. When it came back bloody, she gasped and shoved her hand back over the wound to put pressure on it and to try and stop the bleeding. Kanan then approached her.
"Are you okay?" He asked quietly, knowing that she had just gotten back to her senses.
"Yeah." Rei grunted, standing.
"Bantha fodder*." He said, looking his arm over her shoulder, helping her over to where Ezra was.
Ezra looked up at Rei, the usual glint in his eyes gone. Rei looked sadly at Indigo. Caleb and Rei had lost many a soldier in the clone wars, but Rei felt like this one was her fault, and hers alone. She had only known Indigo for a little over an hour and already she had died. Just because Rei came to her. A teenage girl.
Dead.
Because of her.
Rei bit back tears and looked at the body of Indigo. Rei knew that she had been another force-sensitive. The way that she looked longingly at Kanan, Ezra, and Rei while they turned the ghost over had said it all. She knew that she could do that, just with the proper training; training she didn't have. When Indigo threw her hand out, trying with all of her might as she stood firmly to do something with the force. The sorrow stuck in her eyes as she fell to the ground, dead.
Now those pink eyes were glazed over, staring, lifeless at the sky. Rei reached down tentatively, and placed her fingers over the fallen girl's eyes, closing her lids for the last time. Ezra was slumped over, almost dead himself. Kanan took it upon himself to help Rei back to the ship, to the med bay. He took some bacta and poured it over her wounds, speeding up the healing process.
Zeb and Sabine came back later that night. Dinner was spent in silence. The cargo bay lights went out early as the crew retired to their quarters. There was no rowdy chatter in Zeb and Ezra's room that night. Zeb tried to make some small talk, but Ezra just grunted and rolled over, then facing the wall. It had hit him the hardest.
