I stopped dead in my tracks. "What?" I exclaimed a little too loud.
Link stopped and turned to look at me curiously, "pardon?"
"Uh, nothing," I stuttered, "I talk to myself sometimes..."
I trailed off there at the end, feeling rediculous and completey heart broken, but I tried not to show either in my expression.
"Okay," Link shrugged and smiled sheepishly, "to be honest I do that a lot too. Mostly when I'm really angery and just need to let off some steam."
I almost said that sounded exactly what I did all the time but he spoke first. "My house is right over there," he pointed to beautiful little cottage up in a tree, "You feel free to go in and look around. I'll go to the village to get some food."
Half of me wanted to ask if I could go with him, but the other side told me I needed some time to sit and think alone. Before I could decide, he hopped on his horse and continued down the path. I sighed, and went up the ladder, my heart growing heavier with every rung I climbed. When I reached the top, I nearly collapsed right there.
I made into the house and sat down at a small table in the center of the room. I took in a deep breath before throwing my arms across the table and bawling like a little girl. Ravio popped from my shadow, still in his shadowy form, and sat cross legged on the table. "Hey," he put a misty hand on my head, "please don't cry or I'll start crying again. We'll find Link, I promise."
"How can you be so sure?" I mumbled, "twenty years and no one's seen him? He could very well be dead!"
The moment it came out of my mouth, I wish I hadn't said that last part. There was a moment of silence before Ravio started wailing. "You're probably right! We'll never see Link again!"
That made me sob even harder and I had no idea how either of us would be able to stop.
"Kara?"
I tried to stop sobbing as I hear Link's voice from down below. "R-Ravio," I sniffed, "y-you need to hide!"
He wasn't listening, and I could hear Link coming up the ladder.
"Kara, are you okay?" he was outside the door now.
"Ravio!" I hissed managing to finally stop crying, "get in my shadow, NOW!"
Too late. I turned, my eyes bloodshot as Link stepped through the door and stared in shock at the sobbing shadow sitting on his table.
