Despite my desperation, I did as Dark Link said and watching glumly, sitting down on the water. The battle was quite the show. I could never tell who was wining because both seemed so evenly matched. At last, Link gained the upper hand and batted Dark Link's sword away from him. Dark Link blinked and looked at his hands and made a very dipressed, "O-oh."
He fell to his knees blinking back tears even though a smile twitched on his lips. "I-I lost," he choked, half sobing, half chuckling, "go on then, kill me."
Link sighed, sheathing his sword. "I'm not going to kill you," He offered a very bloodied hand, "Here."
Dark Link looked up in shock, tears still streaming down his face. For a moment, there was a flicker of hope in his red eyes, but then it vanished. "You might as well finish me off," he growled, turning away, "I'll end up getting killed by Ganondorf for failing anyway."
"No you're not," Link huffed, forcing Dark Link to his feet, "Seems you've had it rough, buddy."
Dark Link flinched and stepped away. "Fine," he smiled sadly, "I'll just kill myself then."
He made a mad dash for his weapon, but Link was quick to follow. "Stop it!" Link screamed as Dark Link lifted the weapon, "kill me if it pleases you, just don't take your own life!"
Dark Link had his sword raised, ready to bury it into his own chest, but stopped. "What did you say?" He whispered, but didn't turn around.
"I don't care if you kill me," Link's expression hardened with ditermination, "just, please, don't do such a cruel thing like that to yourself."
"But, you're the Hero," Dark Link turned, but his hair hung in front of his face, hiding his expression, "I may be your double, but your worth so much more to me. I'm just another monster for you to kill..."
"Don't say things like that," Link walked forward, carefully lifting the sword so that it pointed at his own chest, "you're just as human as me."
For the longest time, they stood there in silence with Dark Link's sword aimed for Link's heart, and Link's arms spread out wide. I blinked watching as something fell from Dark Link's face and plopped into the lake. Water maybe? No, it was tears.
Dark Link lifted his head, biting his bottom lip as tears poured down his face. "Y-you don't think I'm just another monster?" He choked, his hands shaking.
"Of course not!" Link shook his head, "monsters are dumb. They can't speak or think like you or me."
Dark Link tried to blink back his tears as he let out a small cry, dropping his weapon. He sobbed as he tackled Link with the silliest hug I had ever seen. "I've been fooled!" He wailed, "Master Ganondorf said you'd hate me and want to kill me!"
Link made a small squeak of utter terror and embarracement. "H-he lied!" Link stammered, patting Dark Link's head, "I don't want to kill you and I don't hate you either."
Dark Link pulled away, still crying but a smile of pure joy lit up his whole face. "I'm glad," he chuckled, "You're the first nice person I've ever met. Everyone here always treats me strangely and calls me Dark Link. No one ever bothered to give me a proper name."
"Well that's not very nice," Link shook his head, clucking his tongue in disapprove, "I'll just have to name you then."
He thought for a moment, looking Dark Link over carefully with a hand placed on his hip casually. "I got it!" He smiled triumphantly, snapping his finger, "I'll call you Ravio!"
"Ravio?" Dark Link thought for a moment, "really?"
"Of course," Link smiled and lead him away, "now, tell me, where are you from that everyone has a magic half..?"
The scene vanished and I was back on the log with Dark Lin... Ravio sitting beside me.
"Everything else is very simple," Ravio shrugged, "I was born in the Twili realm where I was actually quite happy until Ganon stole me away and raised me for seven years to become one of his pawns. After turning good, Link helped me find the portal back to my realm and I began my strange life there which was neither long nor sweet before realizing I couldn't visit Link because he had vanished. I confronted Zelda and she told me about you. Didn't take long to find a portal and-."
"A portal!?" I cried, "there's a portal connecting my world to Hyrule!?"
"Well, yes but-," I didn't let Ravio finish.
"That means I can go back!" I jumped to my feet, unable to hide the smile on my face, "I can see Link again! I can go back to Hyrule!"
