Rey stepped forward into Ben's sleeping quarters or rather, the remnants of it. The room had collapsed within itself, a carpet of rubble and debris covered the no longer visible floor and furniture. She furrowed her eyebrows in what Ben perceived as concern but the tone of her voice didn't match the expression on her face.
"Wow, it's quite a mess in here." Her nose scrunched up in childlike disgust. Ben scowled at her, but she only burst into a fit of giggles at the sight of him.
"I like it messy." Ben replied bluntly, not wanting to put up with this girl's curiosity. Now that Rey stepped out from the shadows, Ben had a much clearer view of her.Her smile was the feature that stood out to him; it was raw and even a bit inspiring to Ben since she must have gone through so much and yet she still managed to keep a smile on her face. For her eyes, they were hazel speckled orbs that reflected the light that practically radiated from her, she was full of it. But even more distinctive than her facial features was the Force that seeped all over Rey, rolling like waves in an ocean. He could sense how powerful she was, and with proper training, she could even be more powerful than even him. That thought caused the subdued rage from earlier to flare up again.
Lost in his in angered thoughts, Ben didn't noticed Rey had walked closer to him. She hadn't been fazed by his standoffish manners; rather, it only provoked her curious nature more. Rey piped up, which caused Ben to snapped out of his thoughts.
"Luke...Master, told me to come look for you."
"And now you've found me. What do you want?"
"Well Luke saw how unhappy you were when I came here. So I came here to..."
"Try to make amends? That won't work. I don't want to talk to you." Ben retorted, not caring that he interrupted. The boy was too full of pride and stubborn to give in to Rey's generous offer.Ignoring his protests, Rey walked over to where Ben sat on the decrepit bed and seated herself besides him. They were practically touching now, shoulder to shoulder. Despite her efforts to relieve the tension between them, Ben refused to acknowledge her presence next to him, and Rey was irritated by his behavior towards her. Neither wanted to strike up small talk or even look at each other at all.
"Am I interrupting anything?" Luke appeared from the doorway, raising an eyebrow at the sight of the two children side by side. The two of them immediately scooted away from each other, and Luke chuckled at their attempts to hide the heat that was spreading to their cheeks.
"It's not what it seems, Master." Ben proclaimed, his anger rising again at the fact that he didn't pay enough attention to his surroundings for Luke to be able to sneak up on him so easily."I see..." Luke could sense Ben's vexation, which reminded him of the reason why he came here in the first place.
"That's not why I'm here however. I need to speak to you on an important matter, Ben."
Ben perked up at hearing that Master Luke wanted to discuss something with him, but the anticipation quickly faded away when he noticed Rey was still in the room. Noticing that Ben did not want Rey to be apart of the conversation between him and Luke, Luke spoke up again."Alone, please. Rey, my dear, if you could leave us and play outside." Ben smiled smugly as he heard Rey let out a sigh as she headed for the door. She returned Ben's smirk with a glare and then was out of sight. Ben then turned his attention to his Master, with the sneer still on his face as the feeling of fury returned inside.
A/N
A bit of a filler chapter, but it does go into detail on Ben's current detesting of Rey. (Which won't be for long since they will end up developing other feelings for each other. ;) I hope this chapter will satisfy you for the time being and you're enjoying this story overall!
