Desperate to find answers, Ben turned to his last resort: Luke. He pushed aside his exasperation at his mother as he trudged his way to his master. Each step towards Luke's quarters caused second thoughts to rush through his head, and when he was faced with a door, Ben found himself to be more uptight than C-3PO when something unforeseen occurs. An outstretched hand was almost in contact with the entryway; it waited an elongated moment before requesting entrance.

The door ahead seemed to be closed for eternity; Ben grew more weary as time refused to pass. His patience wore down to a thin, fragile line. Ben turned on his heel to return to his dormitory when the 'click' of a door unlocking recaptured his attention. He found himself staring into a pair of blue-grey eyes, belonging to the distinctly tranquil Luke. Ben quickly cut off the eye contact, diverting his attention to the marble floor instead.

"Uncle Luke," Ben initiated when he noticed the look of reproach Luke was giving him. He mentally cursed before he started again,
"Master Luke, may I enter?"

Luke carefully observed his nephew before allowing him to come in. He followed Ben watchfully, sensing the chaos of emotions and the internal conflict between light and darkness he was going through was more severe than ever. The Jedi and his Padawan stopped in front of the humble couch in the room, and Luke nodded as permission for the two to take a seat.

"Ben, how may I be of help to you?" Luke inquired, suspecting that Ben must have been deeply traumatized to go to him.
"Rey had a vision-"
"A vision?" Luke cut off Ben suddenly, the judgement in his voice was apparent.
"Yes. She had a vision of where she deserted on a foreign planet-"
"And you are certain that this is a vision, which is not to be confused for a nightmare?" Luke was dubious of the young boy's plea but complied. Infuriation suffused through Ben. Why wasn't anyone believing him?

"Loneliness is a fear of Rey's. Surely you'd know by now. I've given her strict instructions to come to me when she has a vision; she goes to you for nightmares, which is all that was." Luke seemed to have made up his mind about what Rey saw, despite Ben's objections that it was indeed a vision. Seeing that Luke had no desire to continue discussing this matter, Ben used another tactic.
"A voice told me it was a vision," The sentence came out as barely a whisper. "Rey had a vision, and when I calmed her enough to sleep again, a voice appeared. It told me so."

"What voice?" Ben's irritation returned and redirected from Leia to Luke. He started to come to the conclusion that a mimicking droid had replaced his uncle, but the intense look in Luke's eyes convinced him otherwise.

"A voice inside my head. It's faint and only comes out when I'm in doubt to tempt me-"
"When did you hear this voice?" Luke interjected Ben sharply.
"As I was falling asleep but-"

Luke shook his head at Ben almost well humoredly but it came across to the Padawan as disdain.
"Ben, you are nearly fifteen. I expected you to be much more capable of knowing the distinction between the world of dreams and reality."
"But it wasn't a dream!" Ben let out a yell of bottled up rage before he took a menacing step towards Luke. Luke didn't flinch.
"This isn't the first time I've heard it! It appears in my head without a warning, tells me how powerful I can become if I join the Dark Side. Sometimes I can't-"
"You can't what, Ben?" Luke gazed Ben suspiciously.

Familiar pain resurfaced from the depths of Ben's conscience. A voice Ben had grown accustomed of spoke to him, goading the boy's furious rampage.
"Ignorant boy! What can't you comprehend? Your master sees you nothing more than a threat. A threat to him, the other Padawans... most of all, his favorite and your youngling friend, Rey. He finds you untrustworthy. Loathsome. He disapproves of your relationship with her as he's terrified of the horrid influence you'll have on her. He's afraid you'll diminish her light."

The callous words assembled themselves into a lightsaber as their meaning plunged into Ben's chest. Ben's blood, once racing with anxiety, suddenly curdled cold. His breaths were labored and tremulous, as Ben's legs lost steadiness and faltered in their stride. Millions of worrisome thoughts collided within Ben's mind.

"What if the voice is right? What if Luke actually separates the two of us? What if I'll never be able to see Rey again?"

She was his Rey of light. She had brought hope to his world once enveloped in the dark gloom of trepidation and nebulous mist of fear, and Ben wasn't ready to return to that former life of torment and loneliness. Most of all, he wasn't ready to let go of Rey.

A/N
Remember how I said I had huge writer's block with the last chapter? This one was worse ugh. I've moved this chapter approximately 8 times; I keep on adding other chapters and pushing this one back. I was planning on making this chapter much longer, but I decided against that since it's mostly a transition for the escalation and more interesting events in future chapters. Anyways, I was wondering if you could maybe leave your thoughts on my story below; I don't receive many comments, so I don't know what to do to improve my story! If you could leave a comment, that'd mean a lot! All these views and votes are absolutely amazing; thank you all! Hope you enjoy this chapter!
