Chapter Twenty

A knock on the door is what I hear at 10:30 in the morning. I stand up from next to Alex on the sofa to go answer it.

Alex and I have been up for around an hour because we had to, so I'm dressed and everything and everyone has eaten breakfast. Which ever one of my friends is here this early won't have to deal with me when I have just got up. James is up in the room that has been this these past couple days so it's just Alex downstairs. It looks a bit strange him being here this early.

I unlock and open the door, on the other side Katherine is stood waiting for me to let her in. I suspected it would be her.

"Hey Bella." She says as she walks in.

"Hi Katherine" I say and she gives me a hug before walking further into the house.

She notices Alex as soon as she goes to put her coat away. She smiles at him then turns to me, raising her eyebrow, waiting for me to explain.

"Why is he here?" She asks.

We walk into the kitchen so I can explain to her and so we're not interrupting what he is watching on tv. We sit at the island in the kitchen to talk, I tell her about my dad and step mums last minute plans and what they said about them having to stay here.  I know the rest of them aren't coming yet so we talk for quite a while. She tells me about Callum and what happened with her job. She said she was already looking for a new one last night because she really didn't want her parents to find out about what happened.

I decide put a message in the group chat about Alex and James being here to warn them so they aren't too surprised. They all know my family so they should understand. Then Katherine and I go back into the living room to join Alex. I don't really know what he's put on tv though.

The rest of my friends have got here now and we are all in the living room.

"I'm going to play video games with Joshua." Alex says as he stands up.

"Okay." I say as he walks off.

We put a film on but we aren't really watching it, we mostly just talk. I get a lot of questions about Alex. They all think we are really together but just keeping it a secret. We are not. If anyone's keeping a secret it's Katherine. She really needs to tell them about Callum.

Just as I thought Katherine eventually slips up and talks about Callum. They all have pretty much the same reaction as I did but are slightly more annoyed with her for not telling them sooner.

"We can go on triple dates." Poppy exclaims.

"Triple?" The rest of us question in unison.

"Yeah, Katherine and Callum, me and Noah and Bella and Alex."

"Alex and I aren't together." I state.

"Oh well. We still can. You're almost together anyway."

I suppose she is right.

Just as we finish talking about Alex his brother comes down the stairs looking ready to go out somewhere.

"I'm going out, see you later Bella." He says as he walks past us.

"Bye James." I say then go back to talking to my friends.

They then continue ask me more about why they have been staying here.

"I know you haven't been sleeping in here." Joshua says out of the blue.
