Chapter One

It is the first day of October break, we are getting ready to go out with Amanda and Johnathan because my dad needs to talk about his business. He always makes us go to a posh restaurant to talk about his business he never just invites them round to our house even if they have been hundreds of times. Joshua and Meghan don't have to come so I don't know why I have to, my dad has asked me, James and Alex to come. I'm sure Sophie will find out and will find some way to hassle me about it when we go back to school or turn up at my house one day this week. I swear she is paranoid, I don't even like James anymore.

My step mum is dropping Meghan and Joshua at my Nanna's so it's quiet for once in this house. I finish getting ready, put my makeup on and brush through my long brown hair. I don't really see the point dressing up, it's not like I'm trying to impress any one, but dad wants us to look smart.

It's only six thirty, we don't need to be at the restaurant till eight o'clock but Amanda and Johnathan wanted my dad to pick them up at quarter past seven so we will be there on time. My dad forced us all to start getting ready at six o'clock. We haven't been out in a while so I'm a bit happy to be getting out of the house, I just really don't want to talk to James.

"Hurry up!" I hear my step mum shouting me from downstairs. I stick my shoes on and run down the stairs. Running down two flights stairs in heels is not the easiest thing to do. When I get down stairs I see she is wearing a mid length burgundy dress, I have never seen her wear it before, it looks really nice. Her blonde hair is in a bun on the top of her head, she is wearing a dark red lipstick, I have only ever seen her wear it once or twice.

"You look pretty." I say to her.

"Thanks Bella, you look nice too." I am wearing a knee length black dress with white heels and belt.

My dad is wearing a black suit with a burgundy tie, they always wear something matching when we go out. It's now seven o'clock, it takes five minutes to get to their house so as soon as we stop admiring each others outfits we leave and get in the car.

When we arrive we all have to get out of the car to meet them, Amanda is wearing dress like mine but it is white and has flowers on, she has her red hair curled which makes it almost shoulder length. Johnathan is wearing a suit like my dads and James and Alex are wearing shirts and black trousers, James is wearing purple and Alex is wearing blue.

Dad pulls up the back two seats and James and Alex get in and Amanda and Johnathan sit on either side of me. I already know that tonight is going to be really awkward. It takes forty minutes to get there, we are fifteen minuets early, but at least we are not late.

When we get there we are shown to our table the twins sit one end near the wall next to Amanda, I sit opposite Alex and my step mum sits next to me. My dad sits at the top of the table and Johnathan sits opposite Amanda. My dad orders us drinks and starts talking to Amanda and Johnathan, we all start having our own conversations, I don't think any of us wanted to be here really besides my dad, Amanda and Johnathan. After a while I give in and talk to James and Alex. Alex and I haven't spoken in a long time and James won't talk to me so our conversation doesn't get very far.

It's nearly nine o'clock before we get our food. Eventually my dad stops talking about his business because it is stressing him out. It is ten o'clock before we finally leave. We drop Amanda, Johnathan and the boys off and it is nearly eleven o'clock when we finally get back home.

When we get home we all decide to go to bed, I run upstairs and throw on some mismatched pyjamas and get into bed. I lay in bed for ages because I can't sleep. It's nearly twelve o'clock before I finally go to sleep.

When I finally decide to get up I check my phone to see what time it it.

I jump out of bed as fast as I can and throw some clothes on. I told my dad that I would be up and down stairs before eleven o'clock. I got up just in time. I run down the stairs as fast as I can.
