Emma walked on the deck towards the railing ignoring Hook's eyes still glued to her, as well as stray eyes of the crew, and admired the shining sea from up close. She ate her grapes one by one until she was finished and threw the stems into the water. She inhaled the salty sea in silence. Never had she felt this free. She was starting to think being away from the princess life wasn't so bad. Until she missed her family. The smile on her face faded and turned into a frown.
Hook, still not removing his gaze from her, saw her frown and walked next to her. He held out his bottle of rum to her. "What's this?" she asked.
"It's rum. It will also clear you sorrows, or at least make you forget them."
She took the bottle and shrugged. Right when the rum entered her system, it stung her taste buds and her throat. "That is disgusting." She hissed.
"It's not so bad once you get used to it." He took the bottle and mimicked her actions, but he drank it down with no problem, "You seem vexed. What's got you troubled, love?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Emma said turning her attention back to sea. Hook drank some more rum, "Maybe I would," and then he walked back to helm. His words surprised Emma. Had he wanted to actually get to know me? No, of course not, he's a pirate. You are royalty, she thought.
"Smee!" Hook yelled across deck as Smee immediately came running.
"Cap'n?" Smee asked.
"Set course for Port Naves, I want to be there before sun down." He ordered, gesturing for Smee to take the wheel. Hook went back to his quarters. He sat down at his desk and pulled out the Jewel of the Sea. He began to reminisce about his first love Milah, her soft brown hair and kind eyes. Hook remembered the last time he saw her and how she- Emma busted in the room interrupting his thoughts.
"What do you need, princess?" He spat out the last words like poison. Emma felt a bit insulted at his tone but she rolled her eyes and continued, "Uh, Smee wanted me to tell you that we've docked in Naves. And also the crew wanted to go to the tavern nearby."
"Aye, they may go." Emma turned to leave but then he spoke again, "But you may not."
She was angered, "And why not?"
"You're still Princess, someone could recognize you." He stood and walked towards her.
"Not if I'm dressed like this, I've never been to Port Naves. Besides I'd be with Will." Emma begged.
Hook's jealousy got the better of him, "Men out there won't treat you like Will, or me. You couldn't handle it. You may not go, or much less leave this ship. Is that clear!?"
"Aye, aye captain." Emma rolled her eyes and went back to the crew letting them know they had the captain's permission to leave.
"It's a shame you can't join us Emma, I'll bring you back some rum." Will said as he followed the crew off the ship.
"Thanks, but no thanks on the rum." She smiled.
Emma walked up next to the edge of ship and sat on the railing. After a while she swung her legs over so her whole body was facing the ocean. Hook stayed in his cabin to keep an eye on his ransom. He decided to go out on the deck to actually watch her. When he saw her on the railing, his first thought was that Emma was going to jump.
"Love, what the bloody hell are you doing?" he yelled. Emma thought she was alone in the quiet but his loud voice frightened her. She turned to face him and lost her balance. "Ahh" she screamed and it was interrupted by a splash. Hook rushed to the railing, "Bloody hell! Emma! Emma!" He screamed searching for her to lift her head over the water. She didn't.
"Emma! Where are you? Bloody hell." He climbed over edge and jumped in the water. Hook dove underneath to search for the princess. Hook found her slowly sinking to the bottom. He went after her and used his hook looping it around her waist. The captain pulled her up to breathe air but she was unconscious.
Hook swam to shore and carried her to his cabin. He carefully laid her on his bed and slightly panicked as to what to do to help. He pumped her chest and that didn't work. Hook decided to give her mouth to mouth.
He pressed his lips on hers, and pushed air in to her lungs. Killian backed away and seconds later she spit up water. Emma coughed up water and he leaned her over to the side. She was breathing extremely heavily and laid on her back again. Both of them were soaking wet. Emma noticed his shivering.
"Why are you w-" she quickly realized what he had done, "Did you..."
"Aye, you're welcome." He said handing her a towel.
"Why?" she asked as she sat up.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" he said like her earlier.
She smiled, "Well thank you, even if you were the reason I fell."
"Well I wouldn't have to save you if you knew how to swim."
"I...just never had the chance to learn, that's all." She looked down embarrassed.
He chuckled, "Hmm well as much as I would love to talk about you, and I would, we are both wet and I need to change."
"No problem, I can take care of that." Hook arched his brow thinking something entirely different than Emma.
Emma held her hands out and closed hers eyes. She focused on being completely dry, and partly on the fact he saved her life. White smoke surrounded both of them and their bodies and hair were entirely dry. Killian looked as surprised as Emma.
"Job well done, princess, but I need a drink. Let's go." He walked on the deck.
She followed, "To the tavern?"
"Aye, c'mon."
