I woke up to a tiny poke on my arm, startling me awake. I looked down at tiny Merril and saw her slightly pink blush that had spread across her face. "I am terribly sorry to startle you miss, but Mr. Dumbledore has requested for you to eat breakfast with him this morning." She said apologetically.

"It's okay Merril, I'm just a bit jumpy today I guess. What time does Dumbledore want me to meet him?"

"Mr. Dumbledore wants for you to be in his office in 45 minutes. I will let you get ready now. Good day Miss."

"Bye Merril!" I  called out but she had already disappeared.

I yawned and rubbed my eyes before pulling my white duvet off of my body, and swinging my legs around in order to allow my toes to meet the cold wooden floor. I stood slowly so as not to get too dizzy, and made my way to my bathroom where I went about my normal morning routine and applied some mascara, filled in my eyebrows slightly, and applied a nude liquid lipstick. I decided to wear a light pink sweater with a black pleated skirt and white stockings underneath. I slid on my black boots and spritzed some floral perfume all around me, and then I was ready to go. I grabbed my black bag that had all of my necessary books and materials for class and made my way to Dumbledore's office where I was met with a large stone Gargoyle. I wasn't sure of the password to enter, however before I could think too hard about it, the statue rotated, revealing a staircase that led up to Dumbledore's anything but ordinary office.

"Good morning Rose, how are you finding Hogwarts so far?" He smiled at me.

"Good morning professor Dumbledore, I am enjoying myself so far. All of my classes are interesting and all of the professors are willing to help me when I need it. So I would say I'm liking Hogwarts so far." He smiled once more at my response.

"I'm glad to hear that. Sit my dear, breakfast should be here soon." As soon as he finished his sentence, a tiny little house elf that I had not yet met placed a plate of food in front of both Dumbledore and I. The spread that morning consisted of bacon, eggs, and toast.

"I have a question." I admitted to Dumbledore. "Is Professor Snape always... I don't know..."

"Severus has had a rough past. He is a strong and brave man who has been scarred by his past. Don't give up on him just yet. He really can be a nice man." I was confused as to what Dumbledore had said about his past but decided not to press him for answers to something so personal.  "Is everything alright with your meal?" He suddenly asked with a concerned look in his eyes.

"Oh yeah it's all really good it's just that I'm a vegetarian, so I don't eat bacon or any meat." I confessed. I had been raised a vegetarian and had never tasted meat in my entire life.

"Ah, I see. Just like your father." He smiled, a twinkle in his eye as if he were remembering something.

"How did you know my father?" I asked him, genuinely curious.

"He was a student here. We became quite close and after he graduated he joined the order." He proceeded to explain the order to me and told me stories of my father being brave and saving lives. I wish I could've known him, instead of only having an idea of what he was like from the stories I heard. He also told me of how Severus was a spy for the order.

"How did my father die?" I asked him. All my mother ever told me was that he died saving people.

"Your father was one of the strongest members of the order, always ready to sacrifice himself to save the rest of us. That night was particularly difficult. We were greatly outnumbered by death eaters. Severus was there, in disguise of course, struggling against one of the most powerful death eaters there was. Your father could see the greenish glow of the killing curse coming out of the death eaters wand and pushed Severus out of the way. He died so Severus could live." He told me. I just sat and listened to him, trying to comprehend. I wasn't upset or angry, I was proud of my father for being a hero.

"I'm afraid I have to cut this conversation short, your first class is due to start in three minutes. I will see you at dinner Ms. Kettle."

Every class had gone by quickly and without incident. It was a normal day of learning magic and learning about each of my professors. The only incident was with Lockhart who claimed we needed to warm up before beginning and made me contort my body in strange ways. It was then time for my last class of the day, potions.

I was anxious to see Snape knowing now that my father died protecting him. I felt as though I would be able to know more about who my father was just by being around Snape which made no sense whatsoever it's just the way I felt. I made my way to the dungeon and into the potions classroom where Snape was sitting at his desk much like yesterday. I had learned my lesson the day before and kept my mouth shut until I was asked something. I scooted my chair back which made a quiet noise, but nonetheless professor Snape jumped up out of his chair and had his wand drawn and pointed at me. I had scared him.

"I'm sorry professor, I didn't want to interrupt you... I didn't mean to scare you." I couldn't help but smile as I stifled a giggle at his fright.

"You insolent little brat! You should know not to go sneaking up on people!" He snapped at me. I remembered what Dumbledore said earlier and decided not to protest.

"I'm sorry professor..." I said quietly and looked down.

He started the lesson then without any acknowledgement to my words. I would be observing him today as he would be brewing a potion which was the antidote to Veritaserum, the potion we brewed yesterday. The next day I would be expected to brew the same potion to perfection without using any notes.

I watched carefully as he brewed the potion. It was beautiful to see such passion and preciseness into something so important to this man. I couldn't help but smile as I took detailed notes on every move he took. I made a lot of effort so as not to miss any detail.

Once he finished the potion, he dismissed me to dinner. I sat at the same place I had the night before, surrounded by all of my professors. Most of the conversation revolved around what was going on outside of the school and the news of the week. Lockhart made multiple attempts to play footsy with me until I eventually decided to dismiss myself early. I spent all night studying the potion, feeling an odd sense of need to please my potions professor.
