My alarm went off, signalling that I needed to get up.
I was dreading this.
I had such a wonderful time yesterday with Corey. But I was still confused. I hadn't actually broken up with Darryl and Corey wants us to be a secret, though he acts differently when we're alone. (A/N: LOL what a fuck boy.)
Although today was a simple day at school. I only had two classes and two free periods. And none of those classes had Darryl or Corey.
Bless.
Reluctantly, I got up and trudged to the bathroom to clean up. After washing my face, brushing my teeth, fixing my hair, putting on eyeliner, mascara, and foundation, I was pretty much good to go.
I walked out of bathroom and over to my closet. I opened it and grabbed the first things I saw: black leggings, a Judas Priest shirt, and a baggy flannel long sleeved shirt that I didn't realize I had.
I also found my old jean jacket and threw it on because it was going to be a bit colder today.
I took a final look in the mirror and damn I looked different. A good different.
I was slowly breaking out of my shell and I was finally going to be the real me. Still a nerd, but not a god damn pushover.
I made my way downstairs to make some breakfast. I had a sudden craving for french toast. But when I got to the last step on the stair case, an unexpected surprise was waiting for me.
My mother.
She sat at the kitchen table, with a bowl of fruit and some scummy magazine. Her blonde hair was pinned up in some weird hairstyle that she probably found in her magazine.
Looks like no french toast for me.
I quietly walked into the kitchen, hoping she wouldn't turn around. I grabbed a bottle of water and a small container of raspberries and headed out to the front door with no word from my mother. Until I had my shoes on and my hand on the doorknob.
"What the hell are you wearing?" she sneered.
Oh joy.
"They're called clothes, mother." I retorted sharply. Damn, where did that come from?
She stood up from the table and walked over to me briskly. "What did you just say?"
"I'm not repeating myself. I know you heard me." Fuck Liv, stop talking to her like she talks to you.
And before I knew it.
*SLAP*
She slapped me as hard as she could, causing my head to snap to the side. Fuck that hurt. But I didn't dare to cry. That's what she wants.
"Awe Olivia baby, are you going to cry?" I could hear the smirk in her voice.
And then I did the unthinkable.
I looked up at her with a smile on my face. She looked confused as hell. I slapped her back. Harder. She was definitely not expecting that seeing as she basically fell to the ground. Drama queen.
I heard a gasp. I looked down the hall and saw Lucy watching me. She looked confused. But sort of.. proud?
Weird.
This whole altercation is weird.
I didn't dwell on it, and left for school.
I had no idea what had gotten into me, but I didn't really mind me either.
. . .
As soon as I entered the school, I felt like I had everyone's eyes on me. And I was right. People were staring at me in confusion, anger, and admiration?
