Chapter 32

Vallory POV

Screaming. Or, yelling. Either way, it was loud and hurt my head. "I need to see her!" Someone shouted out. I held my head in pain as I slowly opened my eyes to the world. White was the first thing I saw. The walls were a pure, bright white that hurt my head even more. Groaning, I turned away from the white and hid my face. The door slammed open and I was faced with a blonde boy, with tears streaming down his face. "My poor princess." His soft voice rung out. He stepped closer to me and sat on the chair next to my bed. "Niall." I said, but it came out muffled. "I'm here baby. I'm so sorry. It'll be okay, you'll be okay." He reassured me. I smiled in return and took his hand in mine, giving it a squeeze. "What happened?" I asked carefully. I tried to sit up, but the pain in my hip kept me down. Groaning, I layed back down. "You ran out in the middle of the road. It was raining. A car slid and hit you, hard. You flew over the car, smashing the windshield on the way. I thought you were dead." More tears started streaming down his face. My mouth hung open as I caressed his face in my hands. "I'm so sorry, Niall.I shouldn't have ran off. I'm just.." I was cut off by the door slamming open, again.

"Ah, Vallory! You're finally awake! How we feelin'?" His voice boomed out, hurting my head worse. I let go off Niall to hold my head in pain. "Can you stop screaming? You're making it worse." I groaned. "I'm sorry, dear. I'll tone it down." He said in his booming voice, causing me to wince. Niall stroked my hair trying to comfort me, but it wasn't working. "Any pain?" The doctor asked, slightly softer. "My head hurts, my leg aches, and so does my hip." He nodded and wrote something down on his pad. "To be expected. Well, you have a broken hip, a broken leg, and some head trauma. You got very lucky." He pointed his stupid pen at me and swung it around. "You can go home tomorrow, after we take a CAT scan." I nodded and he looked to Niall. "Is this your fiance'?" Niall was going to reply, but I cut him off. "Yes, he's my fiance'. He just got home from tour, and i'd like it if he could stay." I smiled. Niall just went along with it and smiled at the doctor. "That's fine. As long as he behaves." He winked and walked out. Sighing in relief, I held Niall's hand again. "So, i'm you're fiance'?" He asked smugly. I shook my head and sighed. "If you aren't my fiance', they won't let you stay." I reassured. He nodded. I tested my hip, to see which one hurt more, and indicated, that my right hip was broken, so I layed on my left, making more room in the bed. "Come lay with me?" I pleaded, jutting out my bottom lip. "One condition." I raised my eyebrow at his proposition. "You kiss me." I smiled and leaned in towards him, taking his warm lips into mine. Our lips moved in sync as he deepened it. He broke the kiss and slid behind me into the bed. His warm socks felt good against my cold foot, my other foot was uncomfortably wrapped in a cast. He carefully wrapped his arm around my waist as we played footsie.

The great part about being in a relationship with Niall, is that we can be lovers, but act like best friends. The best feeling is, that when i'm down or hurt, is to know that Niall will be right there to catch me. Sure, we fight, but what relationship doesn't? Everyone fights, but the strongest relationships are the ones that can get through fights. That can conquer anything as long as their together. And that's how I feel with Niall, happy and powerful. He ran his fingers through my hair, smoothing out the tangles. "Niall, I love..." But I was cut off by the door opening. I almost threw up at the sight. What was she doing here? I honestly didn't think she cared. Who was I kidding? She doesn't care. I gulped as she said the first word, then formed her sentence. Her words stung like venom from a snake, putting me down as they rolled off her tongue. "I thought you were dead. What a shame."

Niall POV

I had just witnessed my girlfriend, of a year, beat the shit out of a girl I didn't know. I was shocked, to say the least. Dakota developed her in a hug, as I stood there like a dead tree. I didn't know what to say or do. I was numb. Who was that girl? Why did Vallory beat the shit out of her? So many questions flew through my mind, that I didn't even notice my response to her. A response, that I would truly regret for as long as I live. "What the hell was that? You could've killed her! Then what? God, Vallory. You really need to think before you act. That was the dumbest thing I think i've ever seen you do. What is wrong with you?" I spat, then bit my tongue. I can't believe I just said that. I was too deep in thought to notice her response. I just watched as she shook her head and ran off. Dakota glared at me then took off running after her. What was I thinking? I can't loose her.

I ran after them, only to see Vallory far up ahead. Dakota wasn't kidding when she said she was fast. This girl must have taken track. "Vallory! Watch out!" Dakota yelled out. Screeching and glass braking was heard from where I was. I ran faster than I ever ran, splashing in puddles on the way. I reached the end of the road, and that's when my whole world came crashing down. There was blood on the now shattered windshield, and covering the street. Vallory's body layed lifeless in the middle of the road. I sprinted to her body, and held her in my arms. "This is all my fault. I'm so sorry." I whispered to her. Tears ran down my cheek and onto her. Why am I so stupid? The sound of sirens interrupted my thoughts as I looked over my shoulder to the ambulance. I kissed Vallory's cheek and set her back down on the ground. They stopped the ambulance and three men ran out, shoving me to the side. My heart stopped as they pulled her onto the screeching ambulance. I sprinted back to the boys, tears streaming down my face, and told them what happened. Since Dakota was the first one there, she got to go with Vallory in the ambulance, leaving me to find my own way to the hospital. I jumped in the passenger seat as Louis sped out of the never ending parking lot. I pulled at my hair and watched the trees turn to a blur as we drove past them. Street after street, road after road. It was never ending. Louis tried reassuring me that she was okay, but I wouldn't believe it until i've seen her. Tears leaked down my cheek, as I hastily wiped them away. I have to be strong, for her.

We pulled up at the hospital and I ran in towards the desk. The lady gave me a pained smile as she began talking to me. "Can I help you, sir?" I nodded and she urged me on. "I'm looking for a Vallory Woodruff." She typed at her computer and sighed. "She's in the operating room right now, but you can wait for her if you'd like." I nodded and thanked her, then took a seat in the waiting room. The boys ran in and sat next to me, patting my back. I leaned forward and buried my head in my hands, hoping this was all a dream, and when I woke up, Vallory would be next to me, laughing at the fact I dreamt she was hurt. But as much as I want that to happen, I knew damn well it wasn't going to. And that whatever happens, we would face it together and stay strong.
