Chapter 45
Dakota's POV
Confusion was an understatement of what I was feeling. Everyone had that stressed look on their faces as I walked through the front door, arms filled with grocery bags. Zayn looked at me with pure pity, then shook his head. What was going on? Dropping the bags at the door, I ran up the stairs. I barged into Vallory's room and gasped. It was empty. The only thing in the room was the stripped furniture. Did the boys kick her out while I was gone? No, they wouldn't.
I ran out of her room and banged on Niall's door. He cursed at something, then yelled for me to leave. "Please talk to me. Where is Vallory?" I begged. No answer. " I need to know." I heard a loud bang come from inside, and another curse, causing me to jump. A few moments later, a depressed looking blonde boy appeared in the doorway. His eyes were a blood color red as he wiped at them, obviously crying. He was wearing a red hoodie and had Vallory's bear hanging limp from his arm. Even though he was in a horrid state, he still looked adorable. I just wanted to cuddle with him and get him to stop crying. Him and Vallory made an adorable couple. "She left." He sniffled. I stared at him with disbelief. "Talk to me. What happened? Will you explain to me, please?" I pushed. He responded with a nod, then moved away from the door, leaving it open for me to come in. Walking in, I sat next to him as he held Barney close to him, resting his chin onto the furry animal. I smiled as he began playing with the bear's arms. Making it dance to the beat currently playing in his head as he hummed the tune, a couple tears slipping down his cheeks. "You know, she's going to want him back, right? She can't sleep without him." He shot his gaze to mine so fast, I was sure his neck would snap off. He clutched the bear close to him, shaking his head. "Barney is the only thing I have left. She took Bear," He whispered. I cocked my head to the side in confusion as he sighed. "Explanation time." He said, then scooted closer to me. "Don't hate me when I say this, alright? I don't need to loose anyone else." I nodded with my eyebrows furrowed. "I cheated on Vallory." My heart stopped. Is that why she left? My mouth hang open as I watched the distressed boy. "Why?" I whispered. He shrugged, then buried his face deep into the bear, crying. "I don't know. I'm such an idiot! I was drinking that night, and things got out of hand.I know, that being drunk isn't a good enough excuse, but I sincerely feel awful. Every night after the incident, I went to the bar and drank my feelings. I couldn't tell her even if I wanted to. I felt like a coward. I just..." He stopped and cried harder. I rubbed his back, and held him. I've never seen a boy cry. Ever. So this was new. "It's okay, Niall. Everything will be okay." I cooed in his ear. "No, It won't, it never will be okay. I know." I looked at him, confused as he pulled a gold chain out of his pocket, holding it delicately in his left hand. "She threw it at me before she left. I don't know where she went, but Louis went with her." I nodded, taking in this new information. Vallory was alone, with Louis. Most likely crying her eyes out. This wasn't good. I didn't say anything. Instead, I held Niall in a tight hug as he sobbed out his feelings. "Is it hot in here, or is it just me?" I asked, fanning myself with my hand at an attempt to change the subject. Niall sat up and looked at me, then slowly nodded his head. "It is a bit warm." He agreed. I shook my head at him, then giggled. "It's because you got this big jumper on, plonker." He just rolled his eyes, then pulled the fabric over his head, tossing it to the side. "Much better." He breathed. I was speechless. Every bit of air I had, was gone. My mouth hung open ten stories wide as he looked at me, confused. "Niall.. What did you do?" I asked, staring at the fresh scars on his wrists. He furrowed his brows, then his eyes widened as he came to realization. "Why.." I breathed, tears forming in my blue irisis. I never knew someone so sweet, and so talented, would do this to themselves. He shook his head, then looked away from me. "I don't want to talk about it tonight. Can we do this tomorrow?" He politely asked. I nodded in agreement. "Goodnight, Niall." I breathed, patting his back. He nodded and then layed down in his bed. "Night, Dakota." He said as I shut my door. Tomorrow is going to be so much fun. Not.
