Very slowly, the day went by.

Harry found himself checking the time every so often during classes. The note from Malfoy was burning a hole in his pocket and raising so many questions in his head; but the hours left before they were answered passed slowly and uneventfully.

He didn't have any other classes with the Slytherins, so Harry was sure his opportunities to confront Draco were limited. He would have to wait until 9:00 to find out what Malfoy's intentions were. Harry had thought about showing Ron and Hermione the note, but for some reason he felt he should just listen to Malfoy and keep it to himself. He wasn't sure why, but he thought he needed to be as secretive as possible when following its instructions.

-

At dinner that evening, Harry's eyes scanned the Slytherin table in search of a familiar pale face. When he caught his eye, Harry gave him a questioning look and shook his head slightly, asking for answers; but Draco showed no signs of recognition or concern. Their eyes met for a moment and Malfoy promptly looked away. Harry sighed. It was clear he would have to be ready to meet him unprepared tonight, or simply not show up and pretend he never read the note. Harry considered this, but knew curiosity would get the better of him and concluded that it would be best to follow Draco's request.

"You okay?" Asked Ron through a mouthful of pumpkin pasty.

Harry looked at him.

"Are you, Harry? You've been awfully quiet and you've hardly touched your food." Hermione chimed in.

"Yes, I'm fine," Harry paused. "I'm just... Not hungry."

Ron pointed to Harry's plate of untouched food. "Well, if you're not gonna eat that, can I have it?"

Harry rolled his eyes and slid his plate across the table to Ron, who laughed happily. Hermione shook her head, but she was smiling.

After dinner they made their way to the common room, as did most of the other Gryffindors. Hermione and Ron planted themselves in one of the squashy armchairs by the fire, and Harry sat on the floor next to them. While Hermione pulled out her books and quill to do some studying, Harry started brainstorming ways to keep her and Ron from finding out where he would be going when he went up to the astronomy tower in about half an hour. He didn't want them to ask questions and follow him, but he also didn't want them to get suspicious and think he was hiding things from them.

Stretching his arms to imply that he was tired, Harry let out an exaggerated yawn and turned to his two friends.

"Y'know," Harry began, "Its been a long day. I think I'll be turning in early tonight."

"You sure?" Inquired Ron, looking slightly disappointed. "I was thinking about pulling out the ol chessboard."

"Yeah, I'd better go." Said Harry with another yawn. "G'nite Hermione!" Both Ron and Hermione looked slightly concerned, but once he reached the staircase to the boys dormitory they were no longer staring at him.

The dormitory was empty, and upon reaching his bed Harry pulled the curtain around his four-poster so that Ron couldn't tell it was empty if he came up. Harry found his invisibility cloak in his chest and threw it over his head. Harry hadn't use his invisibility cloak in a long while now, but it felt good. It reminded him of old times with Ron and Hermione, back when they could all fit under the cloak with room to spare.

Silently, Harry made his way down the stairs and back through the common room. Hermione was still curled up in the chair with her books, but Ron was at a table playing wizard chess with Neville. Harry felt slightly bad about letting Ron down, but it could wait until tomorrow.

He swore Hermione raised her eyebrows when he passed, as though she knew he was there. He decided not to worry about it. Harry waited by the door until another Gryffindor crawled through the painting, and he exited as they entered so he wouldn't have to try to open the door and risk being caught.

As Harry made his way through the corridors, questions raced through his mind. He was nearing the astronomy tower, and he was now realizing for the first time how dangerous and unpredictable this mysterious meeting could be. For all Harry knew, there could be a league of former death eaters at the top waiting to give him the same fate as Dumbledore. Malfoy could be planning to duel him, in which Harry would need to come prepared, or maybe this was a trap; some kind of cruel prank Malfoy had planned with his friends to make Harry to look stupid.

Either way, Harry climbed the steps up to the tower. If things got bad, at least he had his wand and invisibility cloak.

When he reached the top, he looked around, confused. It was dark and there didn't seem to be anyone up there; the tower looked deserted. When he started thinking about turning around and leaving, he caught a glint of movement in the shadows

A pale figure emerged from the darkness. The light of the moon reflecting off of Draco's blond head created a silvery silhouette against the dimness of the situation. Harry felt his hand twitch toward his wand in his pocket.

"Potter," Malfoy spat in his signature drawl. "Glad to see you show up. I think you and I both know that we have some... Things to discuss."
