Harry and Draco were lounging on Draco's large, comfortable bed, holding hands and just enjoying each other's quiet company when Draco spoke up.
"Y'know," the blond boy said abruptly, as he traced circles on Harry's palm with his thumb. "I think we need to come up with some kind of method of communicating with each other. Like, so we can plan where and when to meet up and things like that."
Harry nodded. "True, but we pass each other on our way to classes all the time. Can't we just talk then?"
Draco thought for a moment. "I'm thinking something along the lines of more private communication. Just, so no one can eavesdrop on us. I'm not exactly sure the two of us engaging in friendly conversation between classes is the most secretive way to do things."
"Well, yeah, I agree." Harry said, staring at the ceiling as he considered the boy's idea. "Y'know, me and Hermione came up with something pretty clever for Dumbledore's Army in fifth year. Maybe we could do something like that."
"Mhm, the galleons..." Draco mumbled thoughtfully, tucking one of his white-blond strands of hair into place. Harry wondered for a moment how Draco knew that detail, but decided he didn't care.
"No," Draco said after a moment's silence. "Too complicated. I think we need something simpler."
"There's a suit of armor," Harry said, sitting up suddenly with an idea fresh on his mind. "There's a suit of armor in the corridor I pass through on my way to transfiguration and on my way to Gryffindor tower. You and I pass each other near it all the time."
"Yeah," Draco said, a look of recognition crossing his pale face. "I know what you're talking about. I go through that corridor on my way to charms."
Draco's brow furrowed slightly. "But I don't see how that's helping us any."
"We can hide notes in the armor's helmet." Harry said enthusiastically. "The visor on the helmet is just big enough to hide a piece of parchment. We can just check under it for notes from each other every time we pass it, that way we can let each other know if we want to meet up or whatever."
Draco nodded. "Good idea. The only problem I can think of is if Filch or somebody else finds the notes. I don't think that should be a issue, though. It doesn't seem to be in a very busy area of the castle."
Harry looked up at Draco.
"I guess I'll be writing you a note, then."
"Not if I write you first." Draco smirked.
"Fair enough. I'll be expecting it."
Draco smiled again.

AN: so I haven't written in about a week or so, but I have lots of ideas that I'm really excited about for the next few chapters so I should be updating pretty frequently this week! I know this chapter is really short and I don't think it's the best, but this scene is quite necessary to some developments in the story that I think you'll love :) thanks for reading, and don't hesitate to vote or comment! I absolutely love getting feedback from you guys <3
