People bursting out of their dorm rooms was normal here, boys leading their girlfriends out into the dim light to go 'have fun.' Jack had a different idea in mind. His idea of fun wasn't sex or getting people drunk, fun in his world is what it should be. Going out to horror movies, rollarskating, even just walking around the city was what Jack considered as 'fun.' Mark was going to be his next target, a target for having a good time. His thoughts were interrupted as the deep booming of Mark's voice rang out as they walked out the doors.
"It's like, thirty degrees out, what the fuck are we doing?"
"We're going," Jack kicked a small pebble, "to go have fun."
"Fun as in bowling or fun as in sex with people?" Laugher exploded from the two men, leaning over to run shoulder to shoulder with eachother.
"Oh yeah! I bet Avidan would like a chunk of that ass!" Jack called out with laughs in between.
"Oh shut up, Mcloughlin, before I hit you with a binder," His hands were stuffed in the pockets of his jacket, in exchange, he threw himself to the side resulting in a stumbling Jack.
The two gasped for air from the laughing session, gaining control of their breathing and balance. As they calmed down, Jack had led them to his favorite place near the campus.
Mark's eyes widened to the size of saucers while he observed the view in front of him.
"Wow," Mark breathed out. "This place is beautiful." And in just those words, with the wind grabbing at the Korean's hair like ropes, clinging for life. As a light red filled his cheeks, his nose along with it, from the cold. His dark, brown eyes, wide in excitement from the simple, yet breathtaking view right before him. With his lips, just slightly parted in awe, Jack had knew:
This is the perfect person.
The perfect person to trust with the biggest secret in his life. The person that will be there for him, even if he knows how odd he is.
A secret about superpowers isn't something you can hide forever.
The blue haired boy turned to Jack, looking at him with the craziest look.
"How is a cliff so mesmerizing to me? We got here through that trail, and I didn't even notice! This is so cool!" He exclaimed, starting to jump up and down from excitement.
"How'd you find it?""Well," there was this one crazy time where Broverse thought it would be cute to fight me down there at the bottom of the cliff. I didn't even know it was near the campus until I was going for a walk a month after the fight. I thought I recognized the cliff then, every bell rang in my head. Maybe it isn't as ugly as it was when my head was smashed into a rock. "My friend showed me." He lied through his teeth.
"You're friend is awesome then!"
Oh, he's a bundle of joy.
"What if there was a bench out here?" Mark continued. "Of course, we can sit on the ground, but it's winter. This place is so simple, and I honestly love it. Just look at the view!" Mark rambled on. Yet, he wasn't wrong.
The cliff wasn't entirely a cliff, there was no water at the bottom. Jagged edges etched their way down for its descent, ending with moonlit trees at the bottom. A thin layer of white snow covered everything like a blanket, shielding the plants from their vibrant, green color. Outlines of grey clouds were in the sky, with small white snowflakes making their way down the canvas of nature. Then there was Mark. His eyes were searching the sky as if it had answers to his questions. The tip of his nose twitched as a snowflake rested upon his face, melting the second it made contact. Everything about this picture was perfect, and Jack never wanted to let it go.
"We should probably go now." The deep voice on the right of Jack startled him, making his head whip in Mark's direction.
"What? We just got here!" Jack gestured toward the cliff.
"Its been fifteen minutes, and I think my nose is going to fall off."
Jack took Mark's words into consideration, but soon caved in. He followed behind him until he caught up, shoving his fragile hands into the pockets of his jacket.
"Did ya like it?" He prodded at Mark, already knowing the answer.
"I didn't like it. I loved it!" Excitement weaved through each word, making each one have more expression as he spoke them.
All Jack could do is smile as they led themselves back to their dorms. The cold air bit them one last time before they were able to walk in the doors of the warm building, heat wrapping them up in its own blanket.
"You think Ryan is okay?" Jack asked as they stepped into the elevator. Mark's fingers pressed in the floor number, tensing up as the question was thrown at him.
"I hope. I know how shaken up he is, but Matt is there for him. He's like," he paused to think, "Ryan's anchor, you could say."
"Would you include yourself alongside Matt?"
"Yeah, of course, yeah. I mean, Matt and Ryan fuckin' kissed, and they're straight as boards. I think." That's when they both had a laugh to share, bouncing off the walls of the elevator. No more words were exchanged after that, they both didn't have much to say for eachother. Short breaths and spontaneous chuckles were shared while the night dragged on, bringing Mark and Jack with it.
