The bus pulled up a gravel driveway in Marion, Indiana. Marion was my home town. This was the house I lived in from the age of 8 until I left at 18.

Dixie was first off the bus and received a greeting from my parents and our dog Buttercup. My heart raced. What if they don't want to see me? I made myself get off the bus.

To my surprise I was greeted with hugs and kisses by my mom and dad.
"Let's go inside everyone," my mom suggested. I smiled and followed everyone inside.
I couldn't believe what I saw! There was a banner hanging in living room that said 'Welcome Home Girls!!' I hugged mom and dad again then moved on to the group of family and freinds that were there too. I guess everyone knew I was coming but me.
I hugged my grandma, my great grandma, my childhood best friends Tori, Melissa, and Sarah we had a ton of catching up to do. Then I moved on to my Poppy and my aunts and my uncles. My house was packed but there were no cars in the drive, at least so I thought, dad had added the wrap around through the path that I once rode my four wheeler through as a child. We had 8 acres of woods on the county line.
I was so estatic to be back that I forgot about my old nervousness about coming home.

My mom and dad were talking to Luke. I was talking to Tori Sarah and Melissa about the past four years. Sarah works at an aquarium and specializes in sharks. Tori works at a zoo. And Melissa is a physical therapist. They have all done great things with their lives. I was telling them about school and how I applied at the New Orleans police department. We all talked and laughed until about 10 pm then everyone left but my friends, my sister my parents Luke and I. My friends, my sister and I all slept in Dixie and I's old room, while Luke slept in the guest bedroom. I couldn't wait to tell my friends everything about Luke but first I wanted to hear about their lives.

Tori went first. "So I have been dating one of the zoologists in the rain forest reserve his name is Eric! I work in the desert reserve with all the snakes and lizards. My favorite animal is the komodo dragon named Justin but I call him Dude because he is always really mellow and if he was a human I bet he would say dude a lot." We all laughed then Melissa started her story.
"I work at the Wellness Center and am still with Bryston," he was her high school sweetheart. " we are planning to get married next year! I love my job, I get to help people and not just old people like I expected it's young kids too! I like getting to know my patients and I feel like an hour of talking to thwm isn't enough." Melissa had always been passionate about everything she did and still is.
Now it was Sarah's turn.

"The aquarium is the absolute best I love my life! I'm not dating anyone right now Darian and I are taking a break because he have both been so invested in work but I think we will get back together because we still call each other on our lunch breaks and text in the evenings. I get to work with the sharks all day, my favorite is the hammer head named MC and yes I am responsible for that one! His full name is MC Hammer Head!" We all laughed at that one. It felt like highschool again. I told them all about school and Luke. The only reason I didn't have a job and life like theirs yet is due to my major switch I had to wait a year to go back so I have one year until I graduate.

Dixie went on to tell everyone about Nashville and her career,how she met Luke and the places she'd played. How she had met a bunch of famous people and has been climbing up the charts on Billboards top 100. She had done photoshoots and met her fans. I was so proud of her!

Later after my friends had fallen asleep I git up quietly to go talk to my mom. She was dozed off on the couch. I sat next to her and she shot up.
"Oh dear you scared me!"

"Sorry mom," I said.

"It's ok honey. What's wrong?"

"Im sorry mom... I'm so sorry I'm sorry I left. I missed you. I'm sorry I switched majors I'm just sorry I haven't been back," I started tearing up.

"Honey I already knew you switched majors and I was never mad at you darlin I love you because no matter how old you get you will always be my baby."
That comforted me. We just sat there and talked about life for a good hour then we both decided to go to bed.
