>>>AUSTIN'S POV<<<

I know I have to do it. I have to. I'll regret it if I don't. I might not ever get the chance again. Ugh! In acting like a 12 year old boy just hold her freaking hand! - I fight with myself inside my head.

I see her hand lying limply by her side. She's very focused on the movie. I try my best to very slyly scoot closer to her.

A very startling part in the movie plays, and she jumps back a little in her seat, right into my arms.

"Oh my gosh I'm sorry, that scared me!" She says apologetically.

"I don't mind." I say honestly, she is now leaning against my chest and has grabbed my hand.

I slip my fingers through hers in a more secure position. I can see in her eyes that she is extremely nervous. But, she eases up and lays back against me. I hope she can't feel my heart pounding in my chest.

We stay in that position the whole rest of the movie, I'm not focusing on the screen though, only on her.

She is so beautiful, inside and out.

I see Jonah look back at us and smile devilishly. I almost let out a laugh. I just smile and shake my head. But he knows I'm actually freaking out on the inside.

Once the movie ends, she sits up and grabs her cell phone she placed on the counter, and I stand up to turn off the
TV.

"It's only 10:00, what do you guys want to do?" I ask.

"How about we get to know Ruby better?" Zayn asks.

"Not this again." Ruby says, flashing me a smile.

I chuckle a little bit and look back to that night. I'm so lucky I'm good at math.

"What do you say?" Jonah asks her.

After a nervous pause, she agrees.

Zayn and Jonah switch off asking her questions I already know the answer to, from our previous game of 'get to know you' of corse.

Once they're done with all the basics, I decide to chime in with a question I forgot I never asked.

"Before you moved here, where did you live?" I ask innocently.

She pauses for a bit "guess." She says finally.

"Guess? How are we supposed to know?" Jonah asks.

"Just guess! And whoever gets it right first gets..." She says

"How about a kiss?" Says Zayn jokingly.

We all look at him weirdly.

"I meant a Hershey's kiss gosh!" Zayn corrects us, pointing to the bowl of chocolate kisses by the bean bag that him and Jonah where eating out of.

"Fine," she laughs "who ever gets it right first gets a kiss."

The three of us guess state after state after state.

" California?" Asks Zayn
"Nope." She responds.

"Florida?" Says Jonah
Ruby shakes her head no.

I swear we've named every single state in the US at this point. Suddenly a thought rushes into my brain, the only state we haven't named.

"Texas!" I say loudly

"Yep! Texas! Took you long enough!" She says.

Right then, Zayn's phone buzzes on the table. He grabs it and answers the call

"Yah just a second. Okay" he says.

"My moms here, Jonah you need a ride?" Zayn says.

"Yah sure thanks!" He says getting up.

None of us guys have our licenses yet. And I'm guessing Ruby doesn't either since she rides the bus.

They grab their stuff and walk out the door. Me and Ruby wave them goodbye from where we are sitting on the ground.

"I should probably get going too." Ruby says, standing up and grabbing her cell phone.

"Yah, I'll walk you home if you want, it's dark." I offer.

"That would be nice." She accepts.

We walk out into the cold night, I take her hand. Our fingers are perfectly laced together. I stop on her porch while she grabs a key from under the map to unlock the door with.

"Thanks for coming over tonight." I say happily.

"Yah! Thanks for inviting me!" She says sweetly, her pretty face glowing in the yellow light from the bulb above the both of us.

"I never did get my kiss though." I say without even thinking.

"Oh yah, huh?" She she says with a small laugh.

She scoots forward, grabbing my left hand. Her face is now only centimeters away from me. Our lips are drawing closer and closer. I close my eyes. But I suddenly feel a cold smooth sensation in my right hand. I look down to see a Hershey kiss placed in my palm.

"Goodnight Austin." She says, her face still rather close to mine.

"Goodnight Ruby." I reply.

She twists the handle and disappears into her dark house. I continue to stand on her porch for at least 3 more minutes in a state of shock.

My dropped jaw lifts into a small smile. I walk home, biting my lip the whole way.
