"There's a towel inside, and I can lend you some of my clothes, since I don't have anything for you," I told Emily eyeing her trembling, little body. She nodded, brushing her long, blond strands away from her face. "Thank you."
"I'm most likely to be the one who says thank you, I've never heard it from someone before," I gazed into her chocolate brown eyes, almost black, "I know I owe you my life, Emily. "
"You know you can trust me, Ross," she whispered, clutching her waist with her crossed hands.
"H-how do you- never mind. You get warmed up. We'll talk once you're done," I weakly smiled, leaving her get into the bathroom.
The door clicked, as she closed behind her making me let out a long sigh.
I was probably as reddened as that deep shade of a blood drip. This was the first time I've ever had someone in my room for company that doesn't evolve beating up.
Hell, this was the first time a girl stepped in my room. I actually stuttered just talking to her.
But as this journey starts, a lot is going to change. Our journey.
If it wasn't for her, I would've been in a casket now. Or buried in dirty sand.
Either way, I would've been dead. A dead, weak boy who gave up on life because it's frustrating. Because it's heartless.
She saved my life, just by hugging me. And with one hug, a thousand emotions struck me hard. As if I suddenly stumbled across the room, and had my back pounded on a metal surface, without being hurt, but with being loved.
She, too, was homeless. And I couldn't help but get her inside to warm up and get sheltered from the heavy rain out in the opening. Her white, Vintage lacy like dress made her look like an angel. Emily. What a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.
Up from her long, blond, straight, thick hair, to the permanent scars that were on her tiny arms, and down to her bare feet.
But the same questions haunted me the moment I saw her.
How did she know my name?
Why did she stop me from my attempt?
Who is she?
A clunk rang through my ears, interrupting my deep thoughts. She came out in my white shirt, that looked baggy on her, and my grey sweat pants which were almost her size.
"You didn't take long in there."
"I did, actually. It was really relaxing. My thoughts were driven away," she replied smiling.
I did the same and motioned for her to sit by me, on the bed. "So, Tell me about yourself," I said looking into her dark eyes. She nodded, holding the towel in her petit hands. "My name Is Emily, I'm 16 years old, and I live untied. I don't have a shelter, i don't have rules, no parents, just an opened space and my wild self."
I took it all in, my lips slightly parted at what I heard. Although it was a harsh life, she made it sound very beautiful. "A harsh world it is in such a century, ain't it?" I breathed out, my face lacking in any expression.
"It is, " she paused looking down at her thumbs with a light smile. " but living on the wild is not so easy, I mean you barely get any nutrition for your body to function properly, you're worn out and probably look hideous, I mean, I almost screamed at my reflection in the mirror.
A chuckle escaped me, a true laugh surfaced. A giggle from the heart. She smiled back, moving hair strands away from her face.
"You still looked beautiful though." I replied, watching her eyes go a bit wide.
Blood rushed to my cheeks in embarrassment after I realised how straight forward that was.
I can't blame myself, I don't know how to talk to girls.
"Thank you, I've never heard that from someone before." She chuckled shyly, rubbing her arms with her small hands.
A moment of small silence filles the atmosphere as she played with her long hair. "I'm pretty sure you have a lot of questions about how I know you, your name, and why did I stop you."
"I was about to indicate that." I replied crossing my legs as she followed. "Basically, I live right across the street, in that little forest over there," she pointed out the window, where a small gathering of trees stood.
"I've heard and seen you cry everyday. I know how you needed someone, but I was too shy, to even meet you. I got visions, dreams and many sights that are almost indescribable. Until today, the day you wanted to give up on life. I'm really sorry you faced this. And that i never got the chance and calm you. I want you to let it out, tell me everything you've been keeping in there."
She reached her finger to the left side of my chest, rubbing it slightly. The way she spoke was odd, in a good way that could make my hearts melt.
I felt a shock radiate into me. It. Was as if electricity ran through me, just by a little touch.
My breath hatched as She took it away, mumbling a soft sorry.
"Dint worry Em, I never spoke to girls either," I informed her, slightly ruffling my hair.
She giggled lightly, causing me to bring my hand up to her cheek. "Thank you, for saving my life. For caring about me, and for knowing that I needed your help. I almost lost hope in life, but then you recovered all of it."
She wrapped her arms around my neck, embracing me in a tight hug.
I took her small body in my arms, and set her on my lap, hugging her back.
"I'm going to let you sleep on my bed tonight. I'll sleep on the floor." I spoke against her cheek, as she turned her head to look at me.
"No, I can't let you sleep on the floor, that's your bed. "
"Can't do, Emily. It's either that or I just join you in my bed, if you're comfortable with it."
She nodded, burying her head back in the crook of my neck.
I took her sleepy, fatigued body under the covers, holding her with me . She shuffled a bit, until her comfortable spot was found, on my chest."Nobody can know about this, I have to remain unknown. Promise. " she said holding her pinkie finger up.
I locked it with her, my eyebrows furrowed, "I promise, but can I ask why?"
"I'll tell you sometime soon, Ross. You'll know in a matter of days."
I nodded feeling her warmth against my body. We fell asleep rightly wrapped around each other, our faces inches apart.
We both need warmth, we both completed each other.
