I knocked on the office's door, before getting in to be greeted by a middle aged couple.I tried my best to make a good first impression, although I was screaming on the inside, worried sick at how Emily would have to deal with everything alone.
"Good morning, " I said sitting down by them.
And there went nothing.
I did my best answering their questions, introducing my self as they told me about them.
I felt safe shaking their hands not having to worry about cuts on my skin, thanks to Emily.
She saved me.
The conversation went on normally, until one question emerging from them hit me hard right in the feels.
"How would you feel like if you got adopted? "
I sat emotionless for a moment, collecting an answer. She chuckled at my reaction making me smile.
"Honestly, I just want to feel like I'm at home. To be able to know how to say mom and dad without having a river full of questions about what these words mean. I want to feel safe."
"Will you call me mom?"
She smiled, placing her palms together .
I sat speechless, shocked at what I understood from her statement as she looked at her husband.
I stood off the chair, standing in front of her, wanting to do something I've never done before. I opened my arms slightly smiling shyly, "can I? "
Her eyes glistened as I took that as a yes, hugging her with everything I had.
"I'd love to, mom. And you too, dad."

"You're getting adopted, Ross. Thank you for not ruining it, " Mrs. H said, as she got out of their room. I smiled, not knowing I should feel about this. But who cares, I'm finally getting adopted.
I couldn't believe the day has come.
Will I finally have parents, Moreover have a home?
I'm going to have someone whom I could tell everything to. How I'd been suffering, how thankful I am for them, maybe tell about the angel I met.
Emily.
"You should start packing right now. There's a small bag ready in your room."
I nodded, sprinting off to my room, to find Emily sat on the floor, her knees up to her chest with her head down.
"Em?" I whispered coming closer to her, " what's wrong ?"
I sat beside her, holding out my arm on her shoulder, rubbing it softly. She leant into me, laying her side by my chest.
" I'm staying here. In the orphanage," she mumbled, taking her hands off her face. I sat flat, not knowing what to do.
She's moving in, I'm moving out. I'm happy she finally has a shelter, but in this building you wouldn't simply live happily ever after.
"I got adopted today-"
"You're moving out?" She cut me off, shooting her head up to look at me. I nodded sighing, bringing her to sit on my lap.
"I guess that's why you got in. Mrs Harold knew I was moving, and so she put you in."
Her eyes widened a bit when I said her name. Emily knows something about this place, for sure. But having her seal her lips made me feel sorry for her. If she's not letting it out on me, who would she talk to?
"Angel, you know something about this place."
She nodded softly for the first time, making my heart race. "Then talk to me Emily. "
She nodded slowly, taking a long breath. "I knew this place way behind. About 5 years ago. Every day I'd sit on the doorstep begging Mrs. Harold to put me in. I had no home, no food, no water, nothing. She'd either threaten me to call the cops or send someone to come and take me."
"Why would someone take you?" I asked, rubbing her shoulder softly.
"Because I've got no identity. No birth certificates, not even a paper with my name on it. According to my knowledge, I'm not even a citizen in any country in this planet," she tangled her fingers in her hair, "the people responsible for the children organisations would take me away and send me to god knows where. I've been running for fifteen years, now and they have been after me. "
"And you'd prefer to run forever instead of being taken?" I questioned, taking her into my arms.
She nodded, placing her palms on my chest, "I was holding on to you, I knew you since forever. But then, nothing lasts long enough for me. You're leaving. But I'm happy for-"
"Angel," I cut her off, smiling. "I'm not leaving you. I'm going to visit every single night. You turned this place from a living hell to a magical paradise for me. I'd forget every sin that happened here, to come and visit you every night. Protect you."
"You'd do that for me?" She smiled making me breath a chuckle.
"I'd die for you, Emily."

"Ready to go? " Drake, my father called as I put the bag in the back trunk.
"Uh, yeah," I replied, my palms rested om my thighs, glancing at my windows.
Or should I say Emily's.
I'm gonna miss my window. Mostly the nights.
She was standing there, covered in my clothes, her palms pressed on the glass.
A smile cracked through her face, before she blew on the glass, drawing a heart shape.
I almost teared at her gesture.
"I guess we're ready to go, then."
I nodded at May, smiling warmly as we sat on the car leather coated chairs.
"If you don't mind me asking," I paused smiling lightly, " do you have any kids?"
"A girl, Rydel, and a boy, Riker." She replied, before ruffling my hair.
I smiled at the thought of having a new life, but my heart cracked whenever u thought about Emily.
But I was serious when I promised I would visit. If it takes me to sneak out of the new home, or maybe just telling all of them about her, I would do more than this. I can't cope a day without seeing her, touching her.
Touching.
