I'll Carry You, My Darkest Desire

Time had gone by quicker than we knew. We were no longer new to our romance. Things had become comfortable. We had made this house a home. The boys had moved out, finding places of their own. Establishing themselves. This was our life, and we were just starting to live it.

Today was the day that Andy and I started dating, one year ago today. A lot had happened. He'd gone on tour, bringing me along. He'd promised me he'd take a bullet for me, and he did. Literally. My life had been turned upside down, and I never would've known how much I liked seeing things on the flip side.

I woke up, sun kissing my face pleasantly. I ungracefully stretched my limbs, and sat up. Rubbing my eyes, it didn't take me long to realize I was missing something. There wasn't an awkward, cute boy laying next to me. I rose from the bed, pushing the covers back into a messy heap. I changed my clothes quickly.

I made my way into the bathroom to brush my teeth. Before I could even get my toothbrush, I noticed a note on the counter. I grabbed it and sat on the edge of the bath tub.

Hey you,

I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to be out for a little bit. I was going to wake you up to let you know, but I couldn't bring myself to disrupt you. You look so peaceful. I'll be back soon.

Love you with all I've got.

ANDY

Right. 1 year Dating anniversary. Something that only a girl would remember.

I continued with my daily morning routine. Finally, making it downstairs, I noticed a large bouquet of roses sitting in the middle of the kitchen island. The smelled so sweet. He had remembered. I pulled the little card out of the flowers:

You thought I forgot.

ANDY

Sometimes, he could be really sweet.

I opened the fridge, scouring for food. Giving up, I opened the freezer to resort to the old time favorite. Chocolate Chip Waffles. I placed them in the toaster and waited. The anticipation from the waffles made me nearly have a heart attack when my phone rung instead of the waffles popping.

"Hello?" I answered. "Hello?" I pulled the phone away to check the number. It was a private number. "Look, I don't know who you are, so I'm just going to hang up."

"Wait, don't do that." The voice was unnaturally deep. "Meet me at the pizzeria on 4th street."

"Um, I still don't know you, so I think that is a negative. Thanks anyways." I began to hang up when I heard the voice call "Wait" again. "What do you want? You're really starting to piss me off now."

"This isn't a creep or anything. I'm not going to hurt you. Please, just meet me at the pizzeria on 4th street."

"I don't know, my boyfr..."

"You're boyfriend will be fine, if you come to the pizzeria on 4th."

"Wait, what?"

"Not like...just come here."

"Look I don't know who you are or what you want, but don't do something you'll regret. I'll be there." I hung up the phone, and clutched it to my chest. He didn't tell me what time, maybe he meant now. I grabbed my car keys and rushed out of the house. I tried calling the guys and none of them answered. Oh my god, what if a crazed fan kidnapped them all.  Realizing I was psyching myself self out, I began to breathe deep, I pulled out of the driveway and speed down the road.

It was about a 5 minute drive to the pizzeria the voice on the phone had specified. I swung into a parking spot. I walked in casually, but the place looked like it was closed. A voice from the back of the building rung out.

"Sit at the table in the front."

I peered around, now shaking, finding the table the voice had meant. It was the only table with plates and silverware. I sat slowly, scared out of my mind.

I saw a figure moving towards me, but it was too dark to figure out who it was. Slowly, the dim light through the drawn shades illuminated Andy's face.

I jumped up and ran towards him, "Andy, there's this crazed person that told me to meet him here. He said that you would be fine if I came, so I assume you were in danger, what's going o..." My sentence was cut off as he kissed me. "But..."

"You're hilarious!" He laughed, " Who knew I was such a good actor. Maybe I should've became a movie star instead of a musician. It was me on the phone."

"What?" I was completely confused.

"I left early to make sure everything here was in order. I reserved this place out for just us a week ago. I wanted to get you here without letting out the surprise. It turned out to be a little more twisted when you assumed I was 'in danger'. Nice touch though."

I just stood there, moving my mouth, but not making audible words. This was all him. "You jerk! You had me scared to death that you and the guys were kidnapped by some psychotic fan or something!"

"Sit down, kid. I asked the guys not to answer their phones if it was you because they don't know how to keep a secret, and would probably had told you. I did this all for you."

"Well, as incredibly terrifying it was, I appreciate it. Why here?"

He glanced at me, his eyes full of passion and adoration, "Our first date. I took you to Cincinnati to a pizzeria. Cincinnati is a tad bit out of the way, so I went with location number two. I picked a pizzeria. It was the day that my life changed. It was the day that I realized that I didn't just like you, I loved you."

I could feel the heat rise in my cheeks. For a guy, he was pretty sweet. "And here I thought only girls could remember all the gushy details of a first date, and I even forgot the location we were."

Andy reached his hands underneath the table and grasped for my hand, which I responded by inserting my hands into his.

I dark Italian man came out and placed a pizza on the table, "If you need anything else, just let me know. I might be able to squeeze you in between all the other guests here." He smiled, laughing at his own sarcasm.

"Shall we?" Andy said, peering at the large pizza in between us.

"We shall."
