"Babe, what's today?" Andy called from the kitchen.
"Ummm, let me check," I flipped to TV on, "according to the TV, its Thursday."
"Well," Andy appeared in the archway, "I guess I should give you your surprise now."
I peered back at him, "And what would that be?"
His calm blue eyes met mine and sent a shiver down my spine. "I figured, we've been out here for so long, why not go back and see the parents. I'm sure they miss us."
That was the thing about Andy. He always knew what was on my mind. Recently, I had been thinking about how much I missed my parents. Every since I was little, I couldn't wait to get out of their house and go live in a big city far away, but know that I do, I can't wait to go see them. "You're the best." I lunged up and gave him a hug and a kiss. "When do we leave?"
"Well," he said, encircling me in his arms, "tomorrow. That's why I had to tell you now. That way you could get packed. I assumed we'd be there for about a week or two." He kissed me lightly on the nose, "Go pack."
I broke free of his grip and sprinted up the stairs. One thing at a time.
Our flight was early the next morning, so I woke not so pleasantly at four.
"Hey, I got your bags in the car, so whenever you're ready, we'll leave."
I grumbled and brushed my teeth. I hastily pulled my brush through my hair. "Let's go."
"Umm," Andy looked at me, stifling his laughter, "you're still in your pajamas."
I looked at him, "I know. I don't care." I blushed hard.
Still stifling his laughter, he reached over and grabbed a pair of sweats, "As much as the male security guards would like it, the females won't. Put some pants on."
After dressing and grabbing a quick breakfast, we were on our way. I popped in a Motley Crue cd and we began wailing at the top of our lungs. Who need coffee when you have rock n' roll.
Once arriving, we began the routine of bag checks and metal detectors. The security guard was not to fond of the fact that Andy wore several items with metal studs that he had to remove, holding up the line. I chuckled to myself as he casually took his time, knowing that the guard was getting heated.
After dealing with rude guards and overly nice attendants, we took our seats on the airplane. I was all giddy with excitement.
"Are you have an adrenaline rush or something? You're shaking so bad." Andy was mocking me.
"No, I'm just so excited to see our parents again. I hope mine are home."
Andy put his hand on my lap, "They're home, don't worry. I made sure everything would go smoothly. I know that this is really important to you, which makes it really important to me."
He oceanic eyes met mine again and the worry washed away. I knew that everything was going to be okay because whether or not my parents were home, I was with Andy, and nothing could be wrong if I am with him. I rested my head on him and drew in his sweet smell and fell asleep.
I must have slept for an hour or so because I woke up to the captain telling us that we were beginning to land. "Are we really already here?"
Andy, noticing my rousing, "Oh, yeah. You slept the entire way. Did you know that you talk to yourself when you sleep. Something about squirrels and carrot cake. I don't know what you were drinking before you fell asleep, but share next time. Anybody that smiles that much while asleep, must have been feeling pretty good." I blushed and gave him a soft punch on the arm.
