Chapter 5-Never growing up

A few days later Lyle searchers for Colleen in the school. He finds her standing by the bathroom. "Hey can we talk?."

She ignores him. He frowns in reply. "Come on babe I'm trying to apologize here."

She sighs "Fine.. you've got 5 minutes."

He takes her into the girls bathroom but first he checks that there's no one in there and then shuts the door.

She looks at him with her arms folded. "What do you want Lyle?." She rolls his name off her tongue like she was sick of saying it.

He looks at her with seriousness on his face. "You... I want you and I'm asking you to forgive me."

She snaps "What am I supposed to do?.. Say its fine and live happy ever after?."

He shakes his head. "I know I've gotta work on it and sort out my anger issues and my drinking."

She rolls her eyes at him. "That is an understatement."

He looks at her sadly. "I love you."

She scoffs in reply. "You have a Funny way of showing it.. Even if I do take you back we are going to be the talk of the school, What am I supposed to say to them?."

He raises his eyebrow. "You realize that was partly your fault right for spreading lies about me."

She nodded. "I know but you hurt me not just physically but emotionally and mentally as well."

Lyle groans "So what am I ..We supposed to do in the meantime?."

She shrugs. "I just need some space and Time okay Lyle?."

He nodded and kisses her passionately. "You know where I am if you need me.

He leaves the bathroom and Colleen heads to her classes.

A few hours later she's talking to her best friend Skylar. She looks at her friend. "Colleen I told you not to make a fool of yourself and now look what you caused."

Colleen looks around herself in the cramped corridor. She sees people in groups whispering and they suddenly stop every time she looks at them or walk past them. "I know.. I know I'm an idoit please stop reminding me.."

Skylar grins "I don't have to...Take a look around yourself."

Colleen shoots daggers at her friend. "I'm well aware of that thanks Skylar but I'd appreciate it if you stop talking about it.. This is bad enough that my best friend is making a joke out of me."

She yells "Hey I'm not.."

Colleen raises her eyebrows "So you've not been talking about it behind my back to anyone..Including the cheerleaders?"

Skylar opens her mouth and shuts it again. Colleen grins falsely "I knew it!...You're supposed to trust your best friend."

Skylar stutters. "I am your friend.. believe me! I was worried about you and I wanted to find out the full story."

Skylar runs to catch up with her friend. Colleen sighs "You couldn't come to me and ask me yourself?."

Skylar shrugs. "Obviously that's what I should've done in the first place...I'm sorry."

Colleen smiles. "It's okay just please don't do it again."

Skylar grins happily. "Scouts honor!.. So are you gonna take him back.."

Collen shrugs. "He apologized earlier and I told him I needed time but I don't know.. part of me wants to and wants to apologize but I'm not sure to be honest.. "

A few more hours later and its the end of the school day. Colleen was waiting outside the school building.

Skylar walks out of her classroom and outside where she see's Colleen. Skylar walks up to her with her bag pack and frowns "Who are you waiting for?."

Collen shuffles nervously. "Lyle..I'm waiting for Lyle.. I've made my decision."

Skylar's eyes widen. "Which is?.."

Colleen sighs. "I'd rather talk to him about that if you don't mind okay?."

Skylar nodded defeatedly. "Fine but you'll give me the gossip tomorrow?."

Colleen laughs "My relationship is not gossip! But, Okay I'll see you tomorrow."

She waves goodbye to her friend Skylar and as Skylar leaves Lyle finally comes out. She waves in his direction to get his attention.

He smiles "Hey."

She smiles back nervously. "Hey have you got a few minutes to talk?."

He grins. "For you all the time in the world."

He takes her around the back of the school building for privacy. They both talk at same time. "So.."

He laughs "Sorry you first."

She smiles with tears rolling down her face. "So I feel like I owe ou an apology for what I did in the lecture hall.. I'm sorry."

He nodded gravely "I'm sorry too for almost hitting you."

She bites her lip. "I thought you would..hit me I mean."

He hugs her. "I didn't mean to do that.. This is what I need to work on you know?.. but I can't do it without you..I love you."

She breaks free from the hug. "That's good because I love you too."

He grins like a Cheshire cat whilst Colleen wipes her tears. She looks at him realizing he's up to something. "What?..What have you done?!

He smiles "Close your eyes." She closes her eyes and he takes out a small blue box out of his pocket. "You can open them now." At the same time he opens the box and gets down on one knee.

Her eyes widen. "But how... when?!"

He grins "I got it on my Lunch hour but I suppose the real question is.. Will you marry me?!"

She smiles happily. "Yes!.. Yes I will!.

He puts the ring on her finger and as he gets up she jumps at him with her arms around his neck and he spins her around both of them giggling happily."

He smiles at her. "I love you."

She smiles back. "I love you to."
