Quinn's POV:
After that weird text and that call from Cara, I knew something was seriously wrong. I mean, the call came from the same number as the text, which didn't seem right. And I swear I heard a gun click in the middle of our conversation. I kept rooting through her stuff, because now I absolutely needed to find out where Cara went.I opened the closet. I wasn't sure what I could find in there, but I thought I might as well look. All of a sudden I saw her suitcase under a pile of clothes. I dug it out and looked for a luggage tag. Bingo! There was a tag, and it had her address on it.
Cara Walters
221 Montgomery Lane
Franklin, Louisiana
Right away I knew that I had to go to Louisiana to make sure Cara was okay. The timing was perfect, it was almost spring break so I would only miss a couple days. I didn't want to fall behind in Biology though, so begrudgingly I texted Luke.
"Hey, it's Quinn. Can you take some notes in Bio for me... I'm going on a trip, thanks."
Hopefully he would go along with it and not ask too many questions. He texted back right away.
"Is everything okay? Meet me at the coffee shop?" Just my luck, Luke was asking questions. I didn't want to get him involved, but I agreed to meet him anyway. When I got the shop, Luke was already there.
"Hey, what's up?" he asked, he looked really concerned.
"It's nothing, I'm just going out to visit my roommate. Her dad had a stroke," I explained, as nonchalantly as possible.
"The same roommate you were so preoccupied about the other day?"
"Yep, that's the one. So if you could just get those bio notes and-" he cut me off before I could finish.
"There's something you're not telling me," he said with a suspicious look on his face, "why would you just rush out to visit your friend when there's only a few days left in the semester?" He had a good point, my story didn't make much sense.
"Alright," I said as I started to tell him about Cara, "I got a freaky call from my roommate and I'm pretty sure someone had a gun. She told me her dad had a stroke, but I don't believe it. I'm going to her house to make sure she's alright." I couldn't believe I just told him that.
"Well I'm going with you," he said, "I can't let you go alone if she's in trouble. Especially since you said you heard a gun." I could tell he wasn't going to back off. Unbelievably, I agreed and I was about to take a 3 hour flight with a guy I barely knew.
